Sorry Butch, no Jim Calhoun.....

The Madness is upon us....Rupp Arena is rocking right now... It's Big Blue Madness...and the EMPIRE is priming the machine....again...
just a few quick hits from the festivities, which can only be described as basketball practice meets WWE Pay Per View Spectacular...
The girls team was there. In all seriousness, an elite 8 squad from last season returns the SEC Player of the Year and the SEC Freshman of the Year as well as bringing in a top 5 recruiting class...Coach Matthew Mitchell doing his dance was actually entertaining...and don't act like you were not wondering the legality of Sarah Beth Barnette(sic)...Take comfort in knowing this is Kentucky, and it's all legal...
Now, the EMPIRE... Using the Rhiana and Jay Z 'Run this town' track as their music of choice on the season...Big Tigger, the DJ for the Washington Wiz wsa there to hype up the crowd for the player entrances, which had all the pizzaz of Starrcade...Then, the Draft Cats all appeared on the screen with some words of encouragement for this years team, and it was all the same underlying theme, be your brother's keeper.... Boogie was clad n glasses and all, and it was blurred out on the broadcast but just so you know, that was a FREE ENES shirt the Boogie was wearing...Then Lil' Blue Jesus' video appeared, and he broke out the 'John Wall' just for old time sakes....The player entrances were up next and it was like watching the line up of Soul Train, seemed like everybody was dancing on down the line...which I loved... Hands down, big Jorts delivered, doing the 'Carlton' as he made his way down the ramp...And the entrance of all entrances...UNDERKANTER...complete with hat and dimming of the lights with the Undertaker theme playing...FREE ENES now.
Before the running of the Cats began, Coach Cal gave his speech to inspire and ignite... He talked about last year, the accomplishments, the games in a ballroom....in Mexico...and he talked about how it was time to turn the page and embrace this team....and they had to find out if they would be brothers, and if they would band together...tying into what we had been hearing all night that they HAVE to stick together...
Other Observations, are obviously the rabid fan base who came out for 'practice'...The two dudes who used to wear the blue cat head lucha libre masks have traded those in for Blue Spider Man costumes... Wayne Turner is back in town as a member of the staff, which is Great to see...Love me some Wayne Turner...There was something about Darius Miller tonight folks, I don't know what, but I see a big year for the Maysville native... and it is Brian Mayhew's favorite player...DARIIIIIIUSS!!!!... Pretty sure I spotted Keith Bogans lurking around....and Kyle Macy and Rob Bromley were calling the action, and yes it still sounds like they are talking in a public restroom.... And apparently, we have a 12 year old on our team, Jarrod Polson, who did have a sick cross-over int he scrimage, only to have his shot swatted away..badly... Terrence Jones looks like he may be as advertised and Brandon Knight, at this point in the season, and I know I am gonna catch shit for this, but he looks like he is ahead of were Wall was at this time last season...He's fast, but it's a different kind of fast than Wall... Liggins looks ready to make huge dent in the season..He said it best when he said that he may not start, but when he plays, he is going to leave his 'print'... Eloy Vargas has blossomed into a much bigger force than he displayed as a freshamn at Florida...Fuck You Billy Donovan...and, Darnell Dodson was heard looking for a nickel bag from inside Lexington-Fayette Detention Center...he was arrested early friday morning, by the same police force who ram-sacked our hotel room back in 1999, remember that Burt???And it would appear the Jon Hood has corrected his posture problems...No slouching Jon....
After the glits and the glam, and smoke machines, bright lights and other pomp and circumstance is over, this team excites me and I am pumped for another season of the Empire... Go CATS!
And I guarentee you that Josh Hopkins was watching from the set of Cougar Town...Show us some love Courtney...
