Blue and Gold hearts in Bluefield...

Interesting read here from the Bluefield Daily Telegraph about fandom and support for a college sports program... Though this is centered around WVU and the majority of it's New Jersey-born students, we here in the BBN can certainly associate with the sentiments discussed in it(well, more so with the roundball than the oblong, as politley pointed out by Randall Cobb.)

Side note on the city of Bluefield... A team that has been named and associated with the same Major League Club as long or longer than any club in existence has parted ways with it's big league companion. The Bluefield Orioles, who have been in existence as such since Moses came down from the mountain, played their last season of the 400,099,988,822,233,364 seasons compiled as such. But, the people of Bluefield will be rewarded with a new partnership to keep minor league baseball in the city. The Baby Birds, as they were called will be re-named to fit their new parent club, the Toronto Blue Jays. The newly christened Blue Jays will take the field next spring. Just sayin' though, Bluefield Blue Jays actually has a better ring to it.
