* At the beginning of the season it was thought that a SEC team could lose once and still have a very good shot at a Title. This may not be the case thanks to the poor overall performance of the SEC East. Unlike last year where to major powers Florida/Bama faced off in the SEC title game this season the East winner could have more than one setback considering South Carolina is the current leader in the clubhouse. Bama does have both LSU and Auburn who are currently undefeated remaining on their schedule so if both continue to win Bama can run the table and be the likely front runner amongst the one loss squads. Should LSU and Auburn fall in defeat then I could see a scenario where a undefeated Boise State or a one loss Oregon/Ohio State could bypass the Tide.
* The Robinson for Heisman campaign all but ended with the shutdown performance by the Spartans on Saturday. Things aren't likely to get much better as a even more impressive Hawkeye defense stroll into the Big House on Saturday.
* As shocking as it was to see the Canes routed by the Noles at home and to see the The Tide actually lose a game the most shocking outcome of the week to me was Illinois 33-13 win at Penn State. A win by Illinois wouldn't have been a big suprise afterall you are dealing with two young squads from a major conference but the 20 point route was a shock. The Nittany Lions couldn't run the ball and Bolden has shown no progression since Week 1. I realize you shouldn't expect a true freshman to lead you to victory week in and week out but to show no improvement in six weeks that is cause for concern.
* I am constantly poked in the ribs for my support of Pac 10 Football but anyone who watched the Stanford USC game should see exactly why I find it so entertaining. It was a typical Pac 10 back and forth shootout and when USC scored with 1:08 left I said to myself that is way to much time left on the clock for this score to hold up. After the kickoff the Cardinal started at their own 25 with about a minute left. 4 plays later Stanford is milking time of the clock and kick a 30 some yarder for the win. A classic last one with the ball wins game.
* I am starting to think the 9 lives theory doesn't apply to Les Miles. At it again on Saturday Calling fake FG's and driving in the Swamp with the clock ticking for the win. As is typically the case the Hat pulled it off once again. Perhaps no coach in the country is more maligned than Les Miles and the criticisim is justified but if Wins and Losses are the bottom line he's a hard guy to hate.

A interesting little nugget I that I saw yesterday. Alabama was the first AP #1 since 2000 to lose a game by 14 points or more when ranked #1. With all the parity in college football over the last 5 years or so I was shocked to see this stat.
