Draft Recap Vol. 2 Rounds 16-30

Round 16- Mariano Rivera....Bill Fenney. One lost season due to injury shouldn't diminsh the value of the greatest Closer of all time.

Round 17- Derek Jeter.....Josh Coleman. Though I am concerned Jeter won't recover fully from the ankle surgery. Your still looking at a .280 hitter with double digit pop and a legitimate shot at 100 Runs scored.

Round 18- Carlos Quentin......Landon Bowe. Not really excited about any of the finds in this round but Quentin has had a season worthy of a Top 20 player.

Round 19- Adam Eaton........Landon Bowe. There may be a smaller margin for error than in most OF situations but the D'Backs must feel good about Eaton to give up Upton. He's got good wheels and projects to be a solid OBP play. The lineup should be solid so you could be looking at a 90+ Run play with 30+ SB.

Round 20- Josh Beckett.......Jesse Ward. Another selection based on the lack of stellar selections. Beckett looks old and washed up after a miserable 2012. However he followed up a rather terrible 2010 with a very solid 2011 and is moving not only from the AL to the NL, but from Fenway to Chavez Revine. Plus K totals to go with a ERA in the mid 3's returns value at this point.

Round 21- Dustin Ackley.....Brandon McClung. There you go Brandon, don't say I've never given you any credit. The verdict is still out on Ackley but everything to this point suggest a bust. However he's still young and typically players tend to burst on the scene rather than slowly progress into a star player. If the hype is justified in 2013 you have a Keeper worthy option in the back 3rd of the draft.

Rond 22- Dayan Viciedo.....Mike McClung. A streaky play in 2012. Viciedo finished with a stellar stat line and those who rostered Viciedo were likely pleased. He's recieving some props from many as a late round power source this season. If Viciedo's AVG is north of .250 and he fails to reach 30 HR's this position seems about right however the possibility of 30+ is certainly there. I see positive gains from this selection.

Round 23- Mark Reynolds.....Chris Lee. Similar to Viciedo but Reynolds does have a established track record of 30+ HR's. The Indians should be better offensively this season and I see Reynolds bench starts than last season.

Round 24- Chris Young........Nate Rice. I'm a sucker for Young. I've been laughed out of draft rooms over him but one of these days the loyalty will pay off. Coco Crisp is the only thing standing in the way of everyday playing time. Crisp may have a slightly better AVG potential than Young and more speed but Young is a better defender and certainly has more pop. A 30/30 season is entirely possible if given 500 AB's.

Round 25- Chris Carter......Butch Lemaster. To old and no track record to be a prospect at this point but leave it to the Astros to finally give him a real shot to establish himself. Though a starting spot is not guaranteed at this point it sure looks like he will find a home somewhere to generate 500+ AB's. Your looking at a 30+ HR player if that happens.

Round 26- Chris Capuano.....Brandon McClung. Sure he may not have a rotation spot but one would have to think the Dodgers would take 50 cents on the dollar to rid themselves of one of the 7 legit rotation options. I suspect Capuano gets 25+ starts this season assuming healthy likely resulting in a legit 5th Fantasy Starter.

Round 27- Juan Pierre.....Josh Coleman. Another lackluster round in terms of new selections. Pierre is the only option who could produce elite level production in any category.

Round 28- Daniel Straily.....Chris Lee. A longshot to earn a rotation spot out of camp. Straily came out of nowhere last season to become one of the most talked about Pitching prospects in the game. Many scouts still feel his 2012 had more to do with deception than actual stuff but in the end all fantasy owners care about is results. If the results continue your looking at anothe solid middle to late rotation option.

Round 29- Lucas Duda....Mike McClung. A bust in 2012 has now become an afterthought to many. I may not be sold on his 2010 production but I would have to thank a legitimate baseline would be somewhere closer to 2010 than 2011.

Round 30- Evereth Cabrera.......Mike McClung. Has a better ceiling than Pierre in terms of speed but the shorter leash is a concern.
