In-N-Out The 64/60

It's been far too long since a In-N-Out post has adorned this blog. While I can't guarnatee a weekly appearence I sure hope it becomes far more regular than it has over the last 10 Months or so. While the week to week grind of a 64/60 Baseball season hasn't officialy begun on the field, owners of this caliber never take days off. While many of the 64/60 Owners are content with the responsibility of one league, like my children, the more leagues the merrier for myself. With this being said myself and four other 64/60ians, four owners from the online community, and GRC3 took part in the 64/60's first NL-Only Auction. (May I clear GRC3 for his abscence. Make no mistake GRC3's draft day tardiness and early departures are legendary, his abscence from the draft was excused and warranted.) While I certainly prefer the beer stinched, geed fested, board bet banter, 2.5 minute selections of Bopp and the classic 15th Round Miguel Cabrera live drafts. The online experience has improved and does make for a more time friendlier event. For any members having second thoughts on bypassing the NL-Only League there will be a AL-Only 10 Team Auction this Saturday March 16th at 8:30 PM. (Time Subject To Change, as of this posting 6 Spots remain and would consider moving to a 11 or 12 team league.) For the most part I feel most teams look pretty even, GRC3's team could be the worst fantasy team ever(to no fault of his own), and for once the preseason projections do not favor the Factory. 64/60 H2H Recap

While the typical post draft house cleaning of years past has yet to occur. There have been a few minor moves and rumblings of a possible blockbuster deal. Regarding the potential blockbuster, don't get yourself all hot and bothered in excitement, these rumblings were early in the week so I'm assuming one owner got cold feet.

Pickup Of The Week

Frank Francisco- ******. Sure he is likely to start the season on the DL, and sure Parnell has the skill set to succed in the early going and not relinquish the gig but if the short term plan remains the ****** obtain a closer from the Waiver Wire post draft.

Head Scratcher Of The Week

****** drops Tommy Hanson for Brian Wilson. Sure last year was a nightmare. Spring hasn't been kind and bad luck seems less like the culprit than a decrease in skills. Regardless Hanson is a once top prospect, he's only 26, and despite a decrease in velocity he was still a 8K per inning pitcher with a over 2/1 K/BB rate. While the move to the AL certainly limited any bounce back talk it shouldn't make him unwanted in a 12 Team 30 man roster league. Compounding the move is the addition of nothing more than a speculation add who outside of maybe Detroit is nothing more than a setup man at this point.

64/60 H2H Team Spotlight

I've intended to post these over the last week or so but have neglected to do so. Today we'll look at Ev Lemaster and the C-B Geedsters, who has been rather boastful in what he thinks is his first Championship Squad.

Projections

Though Butch may be enamored with the collection of talent BHQ projections aren't, post draft Butch ranked 9th in Roto value 20+ points from 1st. Offense was certainly the less respected ranking in the bottom 4th in the league in AVG, OPS, HR, and RBI. While the pitching is much more respected it's still only middle of the pack in QS, K, SV, K/9. On a positive note they are projected league best in ERA and second best in WHIP.

Notes From The Factory

The Trout selection is the steal of the draft. While I do not feel he will rate as a Top 12 Fantasy player in 2013, barring injury he's a near lock for Top 30. If everything went perfect the roster is filled with good power/speed combo players such as Maybin, Stubbs, Lawrie, Espinosa, Jones and Holliday. Problem is it very likely won't Stubbs could be Bench bound, I like Maybin but feel Lawrie's a year away from that SEASON, Espinosa is a AVG killer and Holliday doesn't run anymore. Catcher is very solid with Santana and Avila but Up the middle has little history of sustained success. Middlebrooks as your CI is risky and your gonna need a breakout from Carter to have any teeth at Utility. On the pitching side of things you've got to like three closers lead by Kimbrel. With Motte as the second option your looking at a typical 4th or 5th starters K totals from closers. On the SP front I like Cain as a Fantasy ace. He's the anti-Ricky Nolasco year after year exceeding he's xERA. While I'm not a Weaver fan he's value as a two. I do expect his fall to be more abrupt than gradual, does that begin this season? I really like Scherzer yet it wasn't that long ago he was demoted for ineffectivness. Regardless still excellent, even with the somewhat recent history, as a 3. After this point I'm less than optimistic. From a numbers standpoint it's hard to argue with the results of Hellickson, Parker, and Cobb, I'm just skeptical two of the three produce the No. 4 and No. 5 production that is needed on a consistent basis.

Verdict

I expect nothing different from Lemaster in 2013. Year after year he demands and often pleads for my approval. More often than not I mock his request. Yet a trade here and there, sprinkled with some FA pickups, and my incorrect projections and personal opinions will land Lemaster in the playoffs needing only a few good weeks for his first title.

Agreed. Butch's team is horrific.
