Picture him 'ROLEN' out of town

A man who arguably is one of the finest fielding 3rd Basemen baseball has seen in the last 10 plus years, may be finishing his playing days with a team different from the one in which he revitalized his career on.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly, confirmed that there may be a spot in Tinsel Town for the veteran, as just that, a veteran, being valued for the intangibles that only come with, well, the senior citizens in MLB.

The Dodgers are considered to be very serious about acquiring the Cincinnati free agent.

It's on of those things where you don't want him to go, but kind of think it may be time for it to happen. When Rolen first came to the Cincitucky Commies, I knew we were getting a solid fielder, and a guy that had some pop at the plate as well, heck we were getting an All-Star caliber talent, but for the most part, I actually thought he was not worth the headache that I thought for sure he would cause being in the clubhouse. I had deemed him a problem child long ago, and something just rubbed me the wrong way about him during his time in St. Louis.(and Philly, as well as Toronto)

But, I couldn't have been more wrong about him. Rolen has been one of the cogs in the Little Red Machine That Could during what has been, relatively, a successful run for the franchise since he came to town. Two Division Championships later, and Rolen's absence in Cincinnati will be felt in one way or another.

I would almost assume that this deal is going to happen within a short matter of time, regardless of if it does or not, I would bet about anything that we have seen the last of Scott Rolen in a Reds uniform.

UPDATE:  1/31/2013 May have jumped the gun... Apparently, ol' Scotty on the Hotty Corner has expressed interest into returning to the Reds, and , according to Walt Jocketty, there is reason to believe that a deal may be reached to keep Rolen in red.
