Superbowl isn't Sunday, for South Cack-a-lacki, it's today.

Unfortunately for South Carolina, Devan Downey is not coming through those doors today. Even more unfortunate for the Gamecocks, Anthony Davis most definitely is. And anything short of an Ole Anderson sneak attack on the kid, he is going to dominate.

Kentucky travels to the land of palm trees and golf courses (with a little Ric Flair on the side), as they head to Columbia for an SEC Battle with the Gamecocks. And yes, we said battle with the lowly, not very good near-tropical Roosters.
As if it isn't bad enough that South Carolina's state flag resembles something you would see being displayed by a radical Muslim sleeper cell, The Gamecocks, for whatever reason, seem to always give Kentucky fits in Columbia. Well, in Lexington, too. At least they did for a period of time between 09-10.

So, knowing that, and knowing also that every game against Kentucky is every SEC team's superbowl and statement game, Kentucky native Darrin Horn(it's ok to hate him though, he is kinda' the type you just look at an think, "He goes to the Big Blue Martini just to be that creepy guy sitting by the windows on gameday" or "He probably thinks it's hip to watch games at Applebee's") is going to have his 'Cocks up for this one.

No pun intended.

However, Kentucky did handle SC earlier this season in Lexington 79-64. Carolina didn't have a under-sized guard or a dread-locked forward playing out of their minds that time around. And, Kentucky had Anthony Davis. Davis is a one man WMD. If it goes up, it dies.

Last time around Davis and the Cats held South Carolina to just under 40% shooting, and the big man in the middle grounded 7 SC shots. We are telling you folks, when Davis is in the building, no air-borne projectiles are safe. Kid swats everything.

South Carolina has struggled this season, but their last encounter in Gainesville is what we need to focus on and take into consideration. It's a well known fact that you are only as good as your last game, and SC came out and played well against the better Gators squad. However, they had gave #12 Florida too much cushion, in lieu of a 17 point lead, for which was too much for them, although playing very good that evening, to overcome.  They dropped that one 74-66.  That early hole aside, SC got great play from Bruce Ellington, Malik Cooke, and Damonte Harris. All 3 scored in double-digits, and they are going to need everyone of them tonight against the Cats.

Going by that same logic of being only as good as your last game, #1Kentucky is king of the universe. The dismantling and destruction of a better than expected Tennessee team in Rupp, 69-44,put the rest of the county on notice: If you had any question who was best in the land, you just got your answer who it is, and it's Kentucky. Kentucky held the Vols to under 30% shooting, and once more Davis recorded 7 blocks, in route to humbling Jarnel Stokes, who was given a false sense of being on that level thanks to Jimmy Dykes and his great performance in Knoxville, also won of course by the Cats. Davis is averaging about 4 blocks per outing, which is the highest in the land. Davis also is 2nd in the SEC in rebounding, pulling down 10.2 a game with those telephone-poles he calls arms.(Give it time kids, in about 10 years, we wont have telephone-poles anymore)

Davis doesn't even have to block your shot to make you miss. Just him being there is good enough to drop you team's shooting percentage about 10 points.
Oh yeah, and a little factor by the name of MKG scored 16 points in that one. And Terrence Jones???
Don't call it a comeback folks. When he has his head on straight, Kentucky is almost unstoppable.

Kentucky has 6 players(Davis, Jones, Kidd-Gilchrist,Lamb,Miller,Teague) who are averaging at least 9 points a game, with Marquis Teague being the only one under double-digits per game with 9 per game, and scoring more points per game in league play than anybody else, at just under 72 points a game.

The last time Kentucky entered Columbia as the #1 team in the country, The Gamecocks beat them 68-62. That was back in 2010, and SC has dropped 14 of their last 16 against Top 25 opposition since that game.
Cooke and Ellington will have to have great games to overcome the Cats today, which is not out of the realm of possibility, seems somebody is always an All-American ready for a shoe deal when they play Kentucky. However, the last outing was a struggle for both of these two against the Cats.  Ellington will have to do better than 3 of 13 shooting, and Cooke will have to get a lot better than his 12 point season average to beat the Big Blue.

It is in Columbia, though, and the ink has been dry on the circle around the game on the calendar for quite some time.

Kentucky is just too good. Too long. and too aggressive. Cats by at least 16 today, while the BBN drowns out the home crowd with their 'Go Big Blue' chanting.

Kentucky is 45 and 10 all time vs. South Carolina, winning the last 4 in a row. South Carolina's longest win streak came against the Cats from January 2009, up to the aforementioned upset in January of 2010,  at which point they had taken 3 in a row. Kentucky's current streak of 4 straight over the 'Cocks, has come to the tune of being about 19 points better than South Carolina per outing.
