In-N-Out The 64/60 Week 20

The 64/60 Fantasy Football Draft is scheduled for this Saturday at 7PM. As many of you are award the 64/60 drafts have a reputation for dragging on a bit. It has been a battle of sorts through the years with one school of thought being it's a fun time why rush it while the other side just wants to go home after a long hard Saturday. Naturally online drafts and industry drafts as well have time limits per pick and while there are a couple of times during the draft where it gets nerve racking for the most part if you have a model in place and know the player pool the time allocated isn't a factor. Moving forward I feel it's time the 64/60 embrace some type of time limit per pick. Therefore Saturday a one minute time limit will be in place for all selections. Should you go over your allotted time the next team in the draft is eligible to pick. The team in which the infraction occurred is free to pick at anytime after the minute is up but the player pool once violation occurs becomes first come first serve amongst violating owner and newly appointed team on the clock. We will have a intermission at the conclusion of Round 10. If nothing else I hope this time creates a better flowing system moving forward. While I enjoy the evening as much as anyone I want it to be enjoyable for all involved. In the end I hope it will generate more post draft analysis and potential board bets as more will be apt to stay for a longer period post draft and the increased potential of GRC3 lasting the duration is also a plus.

Game Recaps

BCFP 7 vs. B'Ville Stars 4. For any of you sitting at home watching Stattracker on a Sunday afternoon this matchup was a riveting on the edge of your seat thriller. Punch, counter punch, Punch, counter punch once the madness ceased once again the BCFP reigned supreme in this one on one matchup. I consider it a honor that Senior will remain idle for the better part of a month but once the schedule lands on the Factory he's streaming two starters on Sunday. Well played Senior, well played.

Topps: WHIP .87 BCFP, QS 12 Stars
O'Pee Chee: SV 0 Stars
MVP: Fernandez 2QS 16K .69ERA/.85WHIP/11.08K/9

HGH+Factory 9 vs. Seal Team 41129ers 3. It's not everyday an Owner of Mike Trout, and his 27th Round Value, in a keeper league walks away. It would appear as though Ev Lemaster intends to do just that. His frustration with 64/60 Leadership has reached it's boiling point and as we all know Ev is a man who isn't afraid of standing his ground. Ev has made it know that 64/60 Leadership may need to be overthrown and it would appear as though behind the scenes Lemaster is organizing a group to do just that. So while most owners will be sorting the who's in and who's out roster decisions for 2014, I will be fighting for the privelage of another term as Commissioner of the 64/60.

Topps: RBI 51 HGH, ERA 1.77
O'Pee Chee: AVG .243 41129ers, SV 0 41129ers
MVP: Donnie Murphy(WOW) .258/4/6/6/0/1.001

Tom Emanski Deathsquad 7 vs. Argumentative 9irons 5. If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times, all you can ask for in a H2H Fantasy Baseball League is to play in meaningful games when the calendar hits September. Thanks to a soft two game stretch the scuffling Deathsquad will do just that. It hasn't been pretty of late for the once playoff caliber Deathsquad. The below average offense has continued to be just that thanks to the multiple injuries to it's core. Most disturbingly the once vaunted pitching has hit a bit of a rough patch of late. Thankfully for Fenney and Co. the 64/60 equivelant of bye weeks (41129ers,9irons) has softened the potential fall over the last two weeks.

Topps: NA
O'Pee Chee: Runs 26 TED, HR 5 TED, 1 SB 9irons, OPS 680 9irons, SV 0 9irons
MVP: Carpenter .320/1/6/4/1/.899

Grand Theft Votto 10 vs. Scrote Mashers 2. It's really hard to root for someone who breaks team naming protocol. Yet here I was Sunday evening appreciative of the path Junior had help create for me. While it is noteworthy that once again the pitching for the Mashers was victimized yet again the story here is the GTV or Marshall Maniacs as I prefer to call them. Both are bad but it's easier for me to embrace a name that has nothing to do with baseball than it is to center your name around a baseball player yet that player not be on your team. Moving on. The top team over the first month of the season went into the take in Week 5 and proceeded to lose 9 of 10. Since then 5-1 straight up but most importantly 45-24 during that stretch. From a roster standpoint nothing sticks out. Overall production has been okay, Darvish and Davis have been the only Top 20 players over the last month. So it would seem a little good fortune has been on the side of the Maniacs but isn't that the story for every team that is in postseason position at this point.

Topps: RBI 51 VOTTO,
O'Pee Chee: RBI 23 Mashers, K 42 Mashers, ERA 5.60 Mashers, WHIP 1.50 Mashers, K/9 5.23 Mashers, QS 2 Mashers
MVP: Beltran .419/3/6/6/0/1.194

Takeover 9 vs. Free Hat 1. Just wasn't a good week to be at the Top. Not too often do the league leaders lose a combined 19-3 within the same week. As that snake in the grass I send out a big thank you to the reborn again Josh Holland. "What exactly were you thinking keeping Alfonso Soriano?" was the question Chris Lee presented Mr. Holland on draft night. In full disclosure everyone most within the 64/60 had the same sentiment, hell even Holland himself. That decision has netted the Takeover the 31st Ranked player in all of fantasy. Who would've thought? While this little run by the Takeover has of the moment accomplished his adjusted goal of not finishing last it has to be bittersweet. What if the same TLC had been given in May, June, or July would we be looking at a playoff contender. With 6 Offensive players ranked within the Top 100, the answer would likely be yes. Perhaps this recent success will be the building block for Holland's second season in the 64/60.

Topps: Runs 57 Takeover, HR 18 Takeover, OPS .847 Takeover, AVG .294 Hat
O'Pee Chee: NA
MVP: Longoria .360/4/5/6/0/1.265

BC PEDophiles 8 vs. Walls Of Jericho 4. If anyone is fearful of damage to their UCL in their throwing arm don't go within 200 yards of Mr. Bowe. We all have bad weeks. It's simply the Ups and Downs of a Fantasy Baseball season. In a perfect world you could schedule the optimal time for these seemingly mandatory setbacks to occur. We'll put this DL stint in April, move this one to July, do I really need him in August? Life would be so much simpler. For the Walls it would seem the shit is hitting the fan all at once. After a sluggish start from a W-L perspective the Walls were perhaps the most consistent team over the bulk of the season. Moving to the top spot in the standings as recently as a month or so ago. While the roster certainly had complaints, Starlin Castro anyone. Health certainly wasn't one of them. That was until a league average offense lost a Top 5 player in CarGo. Combine the offensive struggles with a sudden bump in the road for the pitching and a 18-40 mark over the last 5 contest has the Walls clinging to 4th place 5.5 games ahead of that final playoff spot. Reason for concern absolutely but not panic. That of course would be until the new blurb late Monday announcing staff ace and no brainer keeper Matt Harvey is done for the year and a lock to follow in the footsteps of Tommy John. For those of you playing at home, that's not a good thing. I would be a miss here if I didn't at least mention the stellar play of late by the PEDophiles. A recent 24-9 mark over the last three combined with recent struggles from other playoff contenders have the once left for dead Chris Lee, with a fighters chance of making the playoffs. While there is nothing I enjoy more than a playoff battle with Christopher the rivalry we have is well documented. As many of you have likely witnessed upon occasion we often reference our resumes. While the H2H battles are close to even I tend to lean heavily on the Number of Titles Burt 3, Bopp 1(Baseball and Football) and Championship Games 6 or 7 for me, maybe 3 for Bopp(Baseball and Football). Bopp's go to stat is number of times missing the playoffs in Baseball 0 for him and that one painful season for me. I would like nothing better than to wipe my slate clean and make it a mute point moving forward. The way things are shaping up I will likely control my own destiny next week.

Topps: SB 9 PED, SV 11 PED, K 110 PED, K/9 9.74 PED
O'Pee Chee: NA
MVP: Prado .345/2/6/9/0/1.008

Pickup Of The Week

Rex Brothers, BCFP. Just days after losing his closer role, Brothers returns to the role after Betancourt's career likely ends. Bad day for the Betancourt family, good day for Burt and Co. Brothers has performed very well in the role in the past and during his tenure this season. Barring a blowup Brothers should hold onto the job throughout the remainder of the 2013 campaign and will likely be a Top 15 Closer in the 2014 preseason.

Head Scratcher Of The Week

The Takeover drop Jason Heyward. This move is solely based on perception. The 2013 season is over for the Takeover in terms of playoff aspirations. However it's become evident that the Ricky Bobby views on winning isn't shared by Josh Holland. It's becoming evident that 11th place is clearly the goal. One must applaud for the effort. Here is where it becomes tricky. While the 2013 season is over the future of this organization is not. So while Heyward has been nothing short of awful this season one would still have to wonder if his 7th Round value as a keeper would still be worth holding onto? Even with the three keepers next season looking at the Takeover's roster one would believe at the least Heyward would have been in the mix along with Votto at 1, Longoria at 2, and Y. Molina in the 4th. If you believe in Heyward's long term potential this move for a streaming pitcher makes you shake your head. If your mind is already made up that you would prefer moving on from Heyward then combining his doubtful return to meaningful fantasy output combined with the solid performance by Buehrle then this transaction produced a W.

Trade Analysis

The Takeover send Joaquin Benoit to the Free Hat for Matt Garza. Not to many bottom feeding teams are this busy in the dog days of August, but as I mentioned before you gotta love the heart. My general rule of thumb regarding Closer for SP swaps is take the starter. Closers come in the player pool much more often. Problem is the 64/60 isn't your typical league. In this day and age Closers are the equivelant to long legged blondes and us owners are like a pack of Andy Clark's loaded up on Wild Turkey. Point being Closers don't stand a chance on the Wire, and unless you have access to the league at your fingertips and are refreshing data every 5 minutes a closer his hard to come by. Therefore if your a lock for the playoffs, such as Free Hat and your looking around at many of the playoff contenders with multiple closers your roster NEED is closer. With that in mind I have no issue with the deal from either squad. The Takeover gets the better player, Free Hat gets the needed closer. I do wonder however if a better option then Benoit could have been found around the league.

* Another reminder the Trade Deadline is September 1st. With that in mind all trades must be finalized on Saturday. Given many of the 64/60 Owners will be here for the draft I'm hoping we can make some magic happen this Sunday.
