Xavier Rathan-Mayes |
Xavier Rathan-Mayes made a believer out of Believe Prep. The X-Man dropped 33 points on the 'Believers' from North Carolina, and led the Huntington Prep Express to a 93-43 win Monday afternoon at Barboursville Middle School.
Huntington used a first quarter 17-2 run behind Rathan-Mayes(Jr.,has offers from Texas, UConn, Marquette,Arizona among others) and Andrew Wiggins(So., ranked #1 in his class by MaxPreps) to set the stage for how the game was going to go moving forward.
Mayes also hit four 3's in the first quarter of play, to finish the opening act with 19 points. He would not cool off the remainder of the game.
The North Carolina prep school, didn't have much to 'believe' in the rest of the afternoon as to their chances, being down 55-17 at the break.
Head Coach Rob Fullford was also quick to point out that his team takes a great deal of pride in it's defense, and they hold one another responsible for their individual actions on that side of the ball.
Andrew Wiggins |
And let's not let Jimmy Dykes now about this one. He will lose his mind: HP didn't return to Huntington until 3 a.m. Monday morning from their previous road-trip. They played the 93-43 romp that same afternoon. Take that Tennessee.
See Roy, not every team from Carolina tucks tail and walks off the floor in such situations.
