I was just alerted on some social media site that rhymes with lace-crook, by NKU broadcaster Mike Tussey, that the Northern Kentucky Norse will be joining Division 1 and become a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference in basketball.
The Norse are just looking to get their piece of the pie, with expansion and opportunity running rampant in the big time ranks of D1.
NKU leaves behind DII, in which it was considered to be one of the national powers. There is no reason fans of the Norse can't expect success at the D1 level, and it may come a lot sooner than you would think. NKU blasted WVU this season in an exhibition game.
This is the right move for NKU, and it is one that is long overdue.
