fresh outta' jail, Southern Mississippi dreamin'

That smooth and deadly three point shot. The same one that we loved to see, but didn't see any of against WVU in that Elite Eight loss that featured the Draft Cats team.
Darnell, who I had the pleasure of riding with in an elevator(He had 5 boxes of Nikes under his arm, I had about 30 bucks in my pocket and half a cup of my Coke from Arby's) had his troubles in Lexington. He apparently didn't like attending class all that often. He just wanted to shoots the ball.
Darnell came to the Cats in Cal's first season, as a deep ball specialist. It was a last second, emergency type acquisition on a team that was not particularly deep, a trend at Kentucky in recent years(calm down Cats Illustrated). Dodson's taste for trouble, however, caught up to him. While he had left the team due to class room productivity, Calipari had been tossing around the notion of letting him come back to the team, and begin practicing again. Those ideas were extinguished when Dodson found himself on the wrong end of a Lexington-Fayette police cruiser in October of 2010. That was pretty much the last item to be punched on his ticket out of Lexington.
Dodson came to Kentucky by way of Miami-Dade Community  Junior College, where he ended up after transferring there from his original home, The University of Pittsburgh. After his actions had reached Coach Cal's limits, Dodson was granted another transfer, this time to Southern Mississippi. However, shortly after the transfer, Dodson apparently left that program behind, too. Well, there is actually no apparently to it, he was booted off the team shortly after arriving on campus. Seems he pulled a Shawn Kemp and stole some stuff. However to his credit, Dodson took the items, allegedly, from a Frat House, which means even he hates the spoiled, over-privileged, arrogant, look at me pay people to like and accept me, crowd.
But it was a frat house at Southern Miss, how nice could the stuff had been?
To his credit again, Dodson has apparently made amends for his transgressions down in Mississip', as he has been allowed back on campus and into the basketball program.
Dodson is expected, or highly speculated at least, to make his debut for the Golden Eagles this Saturday. The Golden Eagles have started off on the right foot, winning 7 of their first 9. They play in-state rival Ole Miss Saturday. Dodson's long ball could make So. Miss a serious threat in Conference USA the remainder of this season. Provided it, and not his past decision making, shows up. I would love to see Darnell do well, and spark a good Eagles team to maybe at least an NIT showing.

*TIDBIT*
Another former Cat, the much hyped Rashaad Carruth also transferred to So. Miss. However not directly from Kentucky. He had made a pit stop in Oklahoma(where he was kicked off) prior to his arrival at SMU. Carruth left SMU as well, sighting personal issues. Carruth did another transfer after that, when he transferred into a Walter County, FL prison. Carruth was arrested for selling meth and marijuana. He could have just stayed here and went to Carter County if that is what he was interested in doing.
