Spreadology 2011 Mid-Week Appetizer

Packers vs. Lions +6. Sure the Packers Defense has had it's moments in pass protection this season. Sure the Lions certainly seem to have the parts to take advantage of the Packers seeming ineffeciency. Sure Ford Field will be filled to the brim with a loud a racous crowd. Take all of these factors, put them together and throw them out of the window of Eminem's Chrysler. Take the Packers, give the 6 and feel comfortable with the fact you are getting the best team in football in a double digit win by the road team.

Dolphins vs. Cowboys -7. The Dolphins have played well over the last month and have won three consecutive games. Lead by effective play from Matt Moore and easily the best stretch of Reggie Bush's disappointing career. Combine the recent level of play with the fact the Cowboys haven't played well as favorites the last two seasons suggest the TD for the Dolphins is solid value. Once again I say piss on value. The Cowboys easily have more talent and despite three consecutive W's at the heart of the Dolphins is still a squad that went 0-8. The Cowboys offense has been on a role of late and I just can't see this Dolphins team capable of moving the scoreboard consistent enough on offense to keep up.

49ers vs. Ravens -3. No doubt the toughest most hard hitting game on the slate for Turkey Day. Both teams feature excellent defenses, like to run the ball, and just hope the game isn't decided by the mistakes of the signal caller under center. To most everyones suprise Alex Smith has been excellent this season. Though not asked to win many games he has certainly done so and most importantly he hasn't commited those timely mistakes that untill this season defined his career. Flacco on the other hand does have a certain degree of expectation. And outside a remarkable 4th QTR against the Steelers 2011 has been a big disappointment. In what is expected to be a tightly contested matchup the safer QB option would seem to be the correct choice. Once again I'm willing to refuse the "value pick" as such. Look for Flacco to manage the game well while the 49ers will struggle with the short week travel to the East Coast. Though I prefer Jim over John look for the elder to get the first laugh.

Arkansas vs. LSU -12. The entire College Football Season has been torn apart, built back, and torn again within the last seven days. Given these events it would appear that even with a loss the Tigers already have their name penciled in the title game. However with a perfect season and a Computer program holding the final verdict don't look for the Hatter to not have this team ready to play. Even if the Tigers come out focused I still like the value of double digits with a good team. Les Miles and the Tigers history is filled with tightly contested battles with late game heroics. Outside of the Alabama game this Tigers squad hasn't been tested. Look for the Razorbacks to keep it competitive only to lose by some Fake FG, Fake Punt, Onside Kick or one of a thousand tricks Les has under that damn cap.
