Spreadology 2011

As my followers I feel ashamed to have only produced a 7-8 mark on the year for you. Everyone works hard for the money they make and each week you take my picks as the gospel. So far that faith has not been rewarded but that will soon change. The 64/60 Spreadology Department has put in some extra prep work this week and fully expect for the season of giving winners will begin this week.

Boston College vs. Clemson -21. Clemson is certainly three TD's better than Clemson from a talent standpoint and the loss of Boston College's All Time Leading Rusher, Montel Harris Jr., only widens that gap. Boston College comes into the game with a record of 1-4 with the lone W coming against FCS UMass. So as the masses are heading to the wagerline with the Clemson bet in hand you my friend will take the BC Eagles for the cover. One could argue that Clemson has posted the programs biggest win since the Mid 80's in three consecutive weeks. With that in mind it seems that a home game sandwiched between two road contest versus an inferior opponent seems like the ideal spot for a letdown.

Maryland vs. Georgia Tech -14. Georgia Tech no doubt has the offensive prowess of a Top 15 program the only problem is their defense is equally ineffecient. No team that loses to Temple by 31 should figure to give the Ramblin Wreck much of a game however Maryland should be good enough on offense to put some points on the board. Expect another win for the Yellow Jackets but as has been the script for most of the season expect a tightly contested battle.

Jets vs. Patriots -9. The biggest head scratching line of the week. Nine points in the NFL is reserved for the elites facing the leagues wasteland. To give you a example the Giants welcome the Seahawks into town this week and are a mere 9.5 point favorite. The Jets offense has been nothing short of terrible but one could easlily argue the Patriots defense has been equally pathetic. In fact in certain yardage statistics the Patriots 2011 unit is among the worst in NFL history. For all the faults with the Jets offense the defense has still been a Top 10 unit and recent history suggest they match up well against the Patriots All World offense who could still be without Aaron Hernandez. Look for the Jets to once again go punch to punch the the Patriots who win in a one possesion game.

Other Items For Your Consideration: Indiana +15, Iowa +4, Eagles -3, Packers -5.5
