Let's see if this country boy survives...

Are you ready? Are you ready for some Football? Without Hank?
Granted, every body's favorite rebel rouser did what nobody should ever do, in a public forum. He likened a public figure to Hitler. No matter who it is, you shouldn't do this. No matter how strongly you feel about it, just don't do it.
Hank did it.
Right or wrong, he done went and done it. Personally, I don't find it shocking at all. Do you really think that if Hank thought it, it wouldn't find someway to manifest it's self into a sentence. Look at his track record, look at the lyrics to his songs. Hank really says what he feels. ABC knew this going into 1991, when he started asking his rowdy friends if they wanted to see some football, ESPN knew it when Parent ABC decided to switch it up and sent the show to the sports network. Why start holding his words against him now?
Regardless, our parents grew up with Howard Cosell being as big of an attraction for the show as some of the games themselves. For our generation, Hank Williams served the same purpose. And since 1991, I most associated Monday Night Football with Hank. Not Joe Thiesman, Not John Madden, and definitely not Mike Tirico.
This is just another example of Monday Night Football going on a downward spiral that started ever since it went to ESPN. I was against the move from the get go. It may be the same show, but it's not the same show at the same time.
And now, I don't think there is any doubt that NBC's Sunday Night Football is the main event. With all the miscues and what not that MNF has experienced in recent years, NBC's coverage has made the show almost a non-factor.
It still has it's loyal audience. It still pulls in good numbers for viewership, but that is from being MNF, and sooner or later, that will not be enough anymore.
Maybe Hank can catch on with the UFL, sing his little song, and push the UFL as real, uncensored, American football... It wouldn't make a difference, but at least we would still get that song played in the manner it is meant.

The comparison was not of one person to Hitler.....but of two people being together that "should" hate one another.
Hanks a backwoods redneck and right wing nut...but alot of the headlines and stories making their way across the Internet are very misleading as to what was actually said.

Anytime you bring up Hitler's name, There are those who will be stirred emotional very easily by it.....For that reason, Hank was a bit silly in even referencing Hitler.....but......

People need to lighten the fuck up...and if Hank "chose" to pull his song from MNF for "their (ESPN) disregard for freedom of speech"........good for him.

When is was in my early twentysomethings and puking in Marc justices closet Hank was cool. Now that the years have past and all my rowdy friends have stopped coming over MNF is no longer about the event. I watch MNF because it's the only game On TV and Jaworski and Gruden make for a good listen. Who or what the show opens with is much to do about nothing

And that is the reason you are not considered a casual viewer. It is called brand recognition, and without Hank, MNF is going to lose the casual fan who tuned into 'Hank's Football Show' or who only wanted to watch his intro, and maybe stick around for a half or two...Face it, that intro could make a crappy game seem important to the Casual Viewer, Burt. And, in these matters, it's not just about the fanbase, it's trying to attract the casual viewers and get them hooked on the show. I am not saying MNF is on it's death-bed without Rockin' Randall Hank, and I will still flip back and forth on most monday nights and use the game as background noise if nothing else, But our views of MNF our not the same as a 'casual' viewer. Just look at your living room Burt, you are not who MNF is trying to get hooked on the show. It's rather obvious you will watch regardless.

PS, the phrase is ' Much ado about nothing' .
