Not so fast my friend...or is it stay thirsty?

As we continue to anticipate and predict from out recliners, how the 'super-conferences' will look after they take shape, rumors, and news keep funneling in.
It appears that SEC membership wasn't the only conference that West Virginia was horny for. The Couch Burnin' Hilljacks also sent out feelers to the ACC, who gobbled up Big East mates The Cuse and Pitt earlier this week. However, WVU has reportedly told the remaining members of the Big East that they were denied by both conferences and would now be focused on making the Big East continue forward. Now, whether or not this is the case, remains to be seen. I still think that WVU will end up leaving.
The Big East is in damage control after it went under defcon 3 alert this week. Like the exodus out of Egypt, the Big East is out in the wilderness wondering what to do with themselves.
Vilanova, a non-football member, has asked to be allowed to move their FCS(1-AA) football program to the Big East, and there is the chance that hybrid Big12-Big East could exist...or event the Big East taking on the majority of the C-USA roster.
And what about Notre Dame? The traditional indy powerhouse may have to join one of the new super leagues, or be more irrelevant than they are currently making themselves. The school is a member in every varsity level sport the Big East offers except for football. And, now, with a potentially dire situation, The Big East could pull a power play on the Golden Domers. It has been suggested that the Big East will ultimately give the ultimatum of join or take your other programs and find other homes for them too. And, it actually would be the best decision Notre dame could make, in the new order of college football. Think about it? I know that being an Indy, although doom-sayers have been speaking of this for years, has not seen any adverse effects on the school. Everybody always wants to schedule Notre Dame. But now, they won't be able to squeeze them in. USC is going to be in a super-conference, and it may not be able to schedule the game every season any longer. Same goes for every other school. With so many teams in the conference now, you are simply not going to be able to schedule the same non-conference games you always had. And it's not as easy as saying, just drop the cupcake non-con teams. Well, everyone will do that, but that is just going to be replaced with conference games. Little room to spare, and TV Execs are going to have more power than ever, and if Notre Dame is not a team that the TV people see as a top team in a given year, well they don't get the marquee games. So, Notre Dame will find it's self with no affiliation, and the amount of big name programs that are able to schedule them on a consistent basis are going to dwindle. The cure? Do what people have been saying was going to happen for years, and join a conference.
I wouldn't bet against Notre Dame formally joining the Big East, but I also wouldn't expect it to happen before the current NBC deal runs out, which is 2015. By that time, it may be too late, and not just for the Big East.
