You get a Mulligan...

Let's say you had the ability to amend the Hall. You get your one pick to place anyone you feel is deserving or has gotten slighted by the committee, and enshrine them.
Who do you pick?
And, for obvious reasons, Pete Rose is not eligible here. He belongs in, and we are not rehashing that argument again.

Right off the bat, I'm thinking Don Mattingly, Dale Murphy, Dave Parker, and Eric Davis. Now, obviously, the voters feel as if these players are missing a little something in their body of work that would cause them to miss out on the Hall, but this is a mulligan opportunity.

However, you still have to be somewhat convincing in your argument to include your pick as the one.

Would appreciate a lot of feedback on this one folks.....

Everyone knows where I stand with Bonds, best player I've ever seen. But since he's not yet eligible will go a different route although I agree with Todd, it's going to take some time for Bonds to get in. Mattingly, Murphy and Parker are all worthy though the Davis inclusion is a little off the mark. I'll go with McGwire. First understand, though I am a stat nerd I think the Hall Of Fame should be more about ones status in the game rather than numbers. McGwire was the most prolific HR hitter since Babe Ruth. His HR per AB is best in the history of baseball. And in a time when everyone was hitting a ton of HR's he was still doing it just a little better. I completely understand if the certain use of steroids/PED's sour your opinion of McGwire but for me he deserves a spot among the games greatest.
Ron Santo if not as a player then at least as a contributor to the game.

Liking what I'm seeing here fellas. Todd I'd like to see you throw another name out there, just because Bonds hasn't been slighted, yet, he's just not eligible. The Eric Davis thing is a pipe dream. Had he been healthy... Perhaps..

I was going on the assumption that Bonds will be left out, much like McGwire has been so far.

McGwire is a good choice because he played for a pretty good amount of time, broke the single season hr record, and was the biggest star in the game from '96 to '98. The biggest reason that I think Big Mac should be included is because he put magic back in the game with the homerun chase vs Sosa. After the '94 strike season baseball was looked at by casual sports fans with a stink face. McGwire and Sosa brought alot of sports fans back to baseball.

I agree on donny baseball, dave parker, and dale murphy. I think davis had the tools to be great but didnt last long enough.

instead of davis, i think an argument can be made for barry larkin.

I would throw George Foster into the mix as well.

Larkin has only been on the ballot for two years. in 2010 he garnered roughly 52% of the votes needed, and this year he got 62%. He is trending upward with the voters, and I don't think that anyone ever thought Larkin would be a first or second ballot guy. Larkin will be in the hall.
