64/60 Trade Analysis

Here we are just 30 Hours or so away from the MLB Trading Deadline and exactly 40 Hours (time may vary based on your reading time) from the 64/60 Trading Deadline. Thus far we have had 14 trades within the 64/60 this season, for the record Butch has had a hand in 10 of these. With the deadline upon us let's take a look back on the trades that have been completed and see who has made out like Mayor at the Aristocrat and who has ended up like Chad Hamilton at the Quake at the Lake.

* Please Note trades completed in July have not been tallied due to the small sample size of playing time since the moves have been completed.

* Please Note numbers were compiled thru July 21st and do not include this past weeks output. Also keep in mind the numbers referenced in this post are the players actual numbers and not the numbers compiled while they were in your active lineup.

July 29

Majesticals send Mariano Rivera and Jimmy Rollins to LeMaestro's Militia for Dillon Gee, Phil Humber, Drew Stubbs, and Michael Brantley.

- We have reached the point of the season where Ironton will accept anything Butch sends his way. Don't get me wrong this isn't a completely one sided deal you could easily argue Stubbs is the best player in the deal but in my opinion when a owner is making deals with no objective in mind then it's better to go on auto pilot then making backroom deals.

July 24

Komodo Dog send BJ Upton to Majesticals for David Price

- I was shocked to see Jesse hand over his man crush that easily, make no mistake I like the deal from the Majesticals standpoint I just figured that Price would be the Captain on this sinking ship until the end.

July 19

LeMaestro's Militia send Shane Victorino to Majesticals for Dan Haren

- More or less a giveback from a previous deal in which we will get to.

M.R.O.T.A send Jayson Heyward, Drew Stubbs and Cameron Maybin to LeMaestro's Militia for Jay Bruce and Brian Wilson.

- As I said in last weeks In-N-Out I liked the deal from both sides as M.R.O.T.A. gets the best player in the deal while the Militia gets some much needed offensive depth and Heyward who is the Roll Of the Dice player Lemaster covets.

July 18

BCFP send Matt Holliday and Zach Cozart to M.R.O.T.A. for Dustin Pedroia.

- All season 2B has been my Achilles heel I trade from a area of strength with OF and the extra SS and receive a Top 5 at the 2B position. At are most recent 64/60 round table event this trade came under some fire but I still will contest that Holliday is the best overall player in the deal if position isn't factored in.

* Here are the moves that have been totalled. If a player was released after the deal I did not include their numbers in the figures. Also in the event a player was dealt multiple times the stats are reflective of their time with that team and not the season totals.

3/25

LeMaestro's Militia sends Albert Pujols and Juan Uribe to Barboursville Stars for Curtis Granderson and Carl Crawford.

- When swapping first round picks who would have thought Curtis Granderson would have been the best player in the deal?

Uribe- NA
Pujols- .272/21/58/57/5/.850
Granderson- .269/17/47/41/9/.927
Crawford- .243/6/33/31/8/.659

A case could be made for the Militia since Granderson was the best player in the deal during his time with the Militia but given that neither player is currently on the Militia roster the edge goes to the Stars and it's rather decisive.

April 15

LeMaestro's Militia send Pedro Alvarez, Jesse's other man crush, to Majesticals for Jonny Gomes.

Gomes- NA
Alvarez- .216/2/10/6/0/.661

- Had Alvarez been even a third of the player projected by most this year then this would have been a joke of a deal but given Alvarez's struggles and demotion the Militia was likely better not having the temptation of putting Alvarez in the lineup.

May 2

Komodo Dog send Aramis Ramirez and Andrew Bailey to Argumentative 9irons for Ryan Zimmerman.

Ramirez- .306/16/40/47/0/.908
Bailey- 10/2.00/.72/9.00
Zimmerman- .214/4/13/15/1/.653

Could it be for the second year in a row the 9irons are the benefactors of the most lopsided trade of the season. I understood Todd's thought process Ramirez had been terrible and Bailey was on the DL, Zimmerman was nearing a return and it was the perfect time to buy low. Since, Ramirez has been a Top 3 3B and Zimmerman has been terrible.

May 14

LeMaestro's Militia send Adam Dunn, Ian Kennedy, and Anibal Sanchez to Coalton Fancy Lads for Alex Gordon, Michael Brantley and Chris Perez.

Dunn .119/5/13/20/0/.483
Kennedy 7/3.35/1.19/7.02
Sanchez 9/3.93/1.22/9.29

Brantley .272/3/36/25/7/.700
Gordon .300/8/28/28/4/.850
Perez 12/3.20/1.38/5.97

- After this deal was made I told Ev this would go down as the worst deal of the season by far. With only a two months remaining I'm going to be dead wrong. Sure the Militia would love to have Kennedy and Sanchez in the rotation but neither have been a Top 20 pitcher and Dunn and his .483 OPS has been epically terrible. I don't even know if Epically is a word but it is the only thing that can describe how terrible Dunn has been.

May 23

BCFP send Michael Pineda to TomEmanski's Deathsquad for Carlos Marmol.

Pineda- 5QS/4.28/1.16/8.56
Marmol- 10/5.96/1.90/10.75

- I wanted saves with this deal and with 10 I have gotten what I desired but the 5.96 ERA and 1.90 have been a tough thing to stomach. This could very well be a deal that neither party will be happy with if both perform at their recent pace to close out the season.

May 26

LeMaestro's Militia send Rob Barajas, Alex Gonzalez, and Jonny Gomes to Majesticals for Yaldier Molina.

Barajas- NA
Gonzalez-NA
Gomes- .289/4/11/12/0
Molina .217/2/11/11/1/.580

- This was the first, just send me whatever and I'll hit accept, deal the Majesticals made this season. In his defense once again it wasn't a bad deal, Molina had been horrible and up until the last two weeks had continued to be. Given Gomes matching of Molina's output over the same time period in likely about 50 AB's in comparison to Molina's everyday duty with the .217 AVG. the Majesticals had made out rather favorably in this deal.

June 7

LeMaestro's Milita send Curtis Granderson and CJ Wilson to Coalton Fancy Lads for Jose Tabata and Dan Haren.

Granderson- .273/9/38/29/9/.942
Wilson- 6/2.79/1.14/7.76
Haren- 2/6.75/1.63//6.75
Tabata- .333/0/9/3/.741

- Disastrous deal for the Militia. I applauded the move initially thinking Haren would make a lethal one-two with Lee but his struggles sealed the fate of this deal. Tabata's injury doesn't help but the biggest issue has been Granderson who even after his scorching start has not fallen off the pace as I had anticipated. This deal essentially makes the Pujols deal to start the season Dan Haren, a terrible Carl Crawford and Jose Tabata for Albert Pujols. Yikes.

LeMaestro's Milita send Carlos Pena and Derrek Lowe to Majesticals for Carlos Beltran.

Pena- .241/12/23/24/0/.880
Lowe- To be honest I didn't even look up his stats due to the fact that his performance has been equal to that of about 150 pitchers who you can find everyday on the waiver wire thus the deal was essentially Pena for Beltran.

Beltran- .308/6/26/27/3/.967

- I liked the Majesticals side of this deal thinking that Beltran would once again fall victim to a injury. After a slow start Pena has played rather well during this period but as long as Beltran is close to a everyday player his overall balance as a hitter will make the Militia winners of this deal.

June 25

LeMaestro's Militia send Carl Crawford and Dan Haren to Majesticals for Josh Hamilton and Shane Vicrorino.

- Since Victorino and Haren have already swapped places since this deal this was more or less Carl Crawford for Josh Hamilton.

Hamilton- .312/6/17/19/1/.963
Crawford- .333/0/2/2/2/.801 (13PA)

- Well this at least makes the Pujols deal look a little more legit. Though coming into the season I favored Crawford over Hamilton due to injury concerns and even going into next year Crawford will be higher on my list I will concede that Hamilton at his best can carry your team further than Crawford at his best and given the Militia's current roster a superstar is what they need over another solid contributor like Crawford.

Shag, I am going to make an example out of your team on week 19! NOBODY and I repeat NOBODY calls out The Militia without repercussions, we are armed to the gills and ready to strike without hesitation. All you have done was add fuel to the fire for my "Elite Gate City Guard unit"! Boots are already on the ground and amassing outside the gates!!!!!

Wow.
Butchie honey, we all love the enthusiasm, hell nobody likes to get you riled up more than me... but as a friend, I have to say I am concerned. It's time to switch it to the decaf, and let's just step away from the Military channel and Saddam Hussein bio-pics for a minute.

great read. i think the pena for beltran trade was more one sided then the zimmerman for a ram and bailey deal tho.

zimmerman hasnt been totally horrible and a ram is a rolled ankle away from 2012 spring training.
