Feathers and Fur...

Giving a lil' post time to The Head and The Herd...
Morehead State entertained guest St. Catherine's tonight in URBAN Rowan County at Ellis T. Johnson. Kenneth Faried once again led The Eagles on the floor and on the stat line as he contributed 12 pts, 7 rebs, and 1 steal in the victory for Morehead. Faried is that next level of player, and I think he is NBA ready here in December. The win puts The Head on top of the OVC, with a conference record of 2-0, They previously beat conference rival and power Murray State. Their overall mark sets at 6-3. They have played a tough out of conference schedule and it shows. This is a good team, and don't look now, but they are a team that will be dancing in March. Unfortunately, nobody in Rowan County even notices.
The Thundering Herd hosted The Dukes of James Madison at the Cam. It was a psuedo homecoming of sorts for one JMU player. Chad Jackson, former standout at Rose Hill and the Dukes came thundering in to Huntington, and almost escaped with the win. The Dukes were up 2 at the half, and the second half was a shootout as well, with the Herd eventually getting the upperhand and going on to a victory of 67-63. It was not a very memorable homecoming for Jackson, as he didn't really comly any stats that would have made notice in the post game report, but he has developed nicely, and I have said this before, I look for him to end up transfering to a larger D1 program before it's said and done. Baines led the Herd's efforts on the hardwood with 17 pts. and 6 boards.
Marshall has yet to begin Conference USA play, and right now stands at 6-2. JMU is at 6-3. Marshall has the potential to be a tournament team, they have a great new direction, and may be even closer to breaking into tournament contention year in with their new coach than they were with Donnie Jones. If Whiteside would have stayed, This team would be a shoe in for the NCAA or NIT. As it stands now, Marshall is going to play very well this season, provide teams with a huge challenge, but I don't think they will be able to sneak up on Conference king Memphis.
Morehead needs to take some direction from Huntington and go out and support the Eagles. Like em' or not, but Marshall has a passionate fanbase who supports the Herd.

Cmon Gilberto a Pabst Blue Ribbon knock off. We've got to be better than that.
