Ok, so the roof collapsed at the Metrodome. It caused the Vikes to have no dome, which translates to no home. It also has raised the question of will Minnesota finally get a 'G3'(new trendy, 3rd generation tag coined for stadium building)?
The Metrodome has been the root of many discussions in the Sports vernacular of those crazy Sotas for a while now. This is just the latest problem to strike the out-dated stadium in recent memory.
The Twins hated it, hefty bag, and all. They finally got a new stadium. A open-air, Baseball only stadium. It's a jewel for the city. But Baseball is a summer sport. Weather(cold) is not that much of a factor.
The Golden Gophers of Minnesota moved out of the Metro and into a new Stadium. Open-air, College football only stadium. Well, it was college football only until the roof fell in. The Vikings are going to play their game there.
So, there is the example. It's open-air. It's for football. It has the potential of causing games to be played and viewed in frigid temperatures. So why can't the Vikes do the same?
Some will say that subjecting the fans and Players to potential negative degree conditions is not humane. Some say that it will keep fans away, it will lose too much money from lack of sales due to the weather conditions. It won't be able to recoup it's loses and it will be a no win for the state/city and franchise.
I say quit being a pussy. Tell that to the players and fans who were there pre-Metrodome. I have seen games from the past, not just Minnesota, but Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Cincy, and even New England and Chicago that could rival the coldness that the Vikings would feel. And those are going to be games few and far between. The season covers such a span in seasonal changes that the majority of the games would be played in weather that would not cause frost bite or Ice-sickle boogers. Get over it.
And the thing is, it's not the Vikings or Viking fans who are saying this. It's people who have no affiliation to the Vikings, nor would even be attending any of the games. I say stay out of it. Leave it up to the Purple People. It's their tax levies, and their team.
Besides, Thanks to Al Gore, it might never freeze in Minnesota again.
Another interesting argument is that as soon as the roof ripped, there was already chatter of moving them to LA. LA has had oppurtunity after another and nothing sticks. That should be a sign. Just because you got Hollywood and a bunch of over-sexed overdosed plastics running around, you are not entitled to an NFL franchise.
I would hate to think that anybody in the Vikings organization would even consider this move. It borders on blasphemy. I would hate to think that anybody who would purchase the Vikings should they get a red sale tag would entertain this thought also. You would have to be a complete moron or the anti-Christ to move the NFL out of Minnesota. Or Art Modell, who was the original Judas in Cleveland before Lebron was a fetus. He did it to Baltimore too. Ironically, he re-located a team back to Baltimore....Alas, it is all but a vicious cycle.
In closing, yes, Minnesota needs to build a new stadium for the Vikings. I don't care if it is a dome or open-air. Just get one built. The Metrodome has served no use since the AWA held Wrestle Rock '86 there.
But whatever the case may be, leave it to Minnesotans, and stay the hell out of it.
Besides, LA has USC, that is as close to an NFL team as they need. But, it would be niffty if California was home to two NFL teams whose mascots were inspired by plundering rapist.

Well, according to Jay Cutler, and ESPN, the players don't want to play on an un-heated surface. Bronco Nagurski just rolled over.
