Those MITCHes can sure play Baketball...

Today, the 6460 would like to say Happy Birthday to Matthew Mitchell, Head Coach of The Kentucky Women's team.
Coach Mitchell has done a phenomenal job in Lexington, and has finally brought balance to the Hoops Force at Kentucky by making the Women's team a national contender.
Mitchell has led Kentucky to being to a #8 AP ranking this season(currently 13) and they stand at 7-1.
Mitchell has been the Head Coach since 2007, and he has been paying off since day one. He got the program to the post-season in 07-08 and 08-09 with trips to the WNIT. Last season was the breakthrough season, when he led the Felines to a 28-8 and record and making it to the Women's NCAA Elite 8. His program also swept the post-season major SEC Awards last season, as Victoria Dunlap was named SEC Player of the Year, and A'dia Mathies was SEC Freshman of the Year. Mitchell took home SEC Coach of the Year. A feat that had not been accomplished since Pat Summitt's National Champion Lady Vols accomplished it in 1998.
Mitchell also spent time as an assistant at Kentucky, Florida, and Tennessee under Pat Summitt. In 2005-2007, He spent two seasons as the Head Coach at Morehead State.
A great coach, I would seriously consider putting him on any potential list should our MEN'S program ever go looking for a coach again.

And besides all those accolades, the man can Dougie.
