Coleman's Commentary

* The ending of the LSU/Tenn game was perhaps the most bizarre ending I have ever witnessed. LSU made so many mistakes during the final drive that they have used their seasons worth of breaks and it's only game 5. After a poor pass interference call the Tigers get the ball on the three with 1st and Goal to go. After nothing on first down they replace Lee and once again turn to Jefferson who was removed because of ineffectiveness. The moved screamed QB option play so on second down with about 23 seconds left guess what QB option which was covered well. Tic toc tic toc clock is running it's only third down so you expect a spike to stop the clock. The spike play must not be in the Les Miles handbook he not only runs another play but with 13 seconds left they attempt to bring in new personnel. Chaos resumes and with about 5 seconds left the ball is snapped Jefferson isn't paying attention, bad snap no time on the clock ball game over the Vols have won and I thought to myself Les Miles could be fired on Monday. In all the madness Tennessee for whatever reason attempted to bring new personel on the field. In the switchover the Vols had 13 players on the field when the ball was snapped. With the penalty LSU gets one more untimed play the Tigers score and Les Miles still has a job. Dooley seemed bitter and the postgame handshake was akward at best and in the postgame news conference Dooley felt that the officials should have stood over the ball to allow his defense ample time to make substitutions. According to the rules I suppose this is the way it should be but the questions is why bother bringing in new personnel and allowing yourself to be caught up in the penalty. You have 11 on the field the clock was ticking and LSU was disheveled. The end result is another loss in the young Dooley era at Tenn which may not last more than this season and the Hat gets another victory that brings into question his game management skills.

* Speaking of the LSU game. I realize it was emotional win but is storming the field necessary. You are LSU, you are undefeated and are a perenial player in the National Title landscape year after year. Tennessee is a middle of the pack SEC school at this point and a team that you should role by two TD's at least. In other shameful field storms. The Buffaloes of Colorado stormed the field after beating Georgia. The Buffaloes haven't had a succesful run the last eight years or so but about a decade ago you were a top 25 program year in and year out. Georgia much like Tennessee is more of a name this season then the elite product they have become accustomed to. The storming of the field is a great tradition in College Football but the act has become over used. I feel as though someone should create a fan handbook and in this handbook someone should create rules and requirements regarding storming the field. Vandy beating Bama is deserving of the act. LSU over Tenn. not so much.

* With a slew of big time games Saturday my TV time was attended to be split evenly. However Bama dominated Florida as I had expected and after the 1st quarter the game was over. So the TV at 64/60 headquarters had Oregon and Stanford as it's showcase game. I was suprised that Oregon was able to fight back after being down 21-3. Andrew Luck struggled mightily during the game it could have been the added pressure of Brent Musburger who in case you couldn't tell was a big fan. Loved the Chip Kelly soundbite at halftime explaining his constant bickering at officials. I wonder how Chip and Harbaugh's relationship is?

* Big win for the Canes in their pursuit of a ACC title. Given how they have looked and the overall play of the ACC I can't see them losing more than 1 ACC game this season. Clemson has been the only other school to appear to have some life. With the head to head advantage the Canes would have to lose two ACC games and I just don't see it happening.

* Another Week another loss for Texas. Hard to believe but when you don't have a consistent running game or a QB who is ready to be a primetime player your offense will be inconsistent. Could it be three in a row? After a bye week the Longhorns travel to Lincoln which certainly won't be a walk in the park.

* If Michigan can keep winning it's going to be really hard to ignore Robinson in Heisman talks. My top three at this point would be Pryor, Moore and Robinson. From a stat standpoint it isn't even close. He averages the second most yardage of offense a game and already has two games with over 200 yards passing and rushing in just 4 starts.

I don't see LSU at #10. I think they will lose to Florida.

I've got the relative opponent comparison (TN) argument here.

Thoughts? Let's hear em. Start a little chatter.

I can't argue with you. Florida is the better team and will likely give the Tigers a much deserved loss on the record. My Rankings are based on resume rather than the overall better team. Since LSU hasn't been beaten I have them ranked higher. Nothing more nothing less. Chatter is much needed on this blog. I am starting to come to the conclusion that it is on life support or it may be flatlined.

Josh,

Maybe I should offer some ridiculous trades to get things stirred up?

Nah, just joking.

I personally like the blog and read it daily but work allows it for the time being so.... I know other companies aren't as liberal.

I guess the golf tournament will have to be postponed as I simply don't have the time or money. Maybe next year. What about a ping pong, beer pong or cornhole tournament? What are your thoughts? Anyone?
