Spreadology 2010

Not gonna lie to you it's always good to stick the chest out with pride after a big weekend. Sure I may have completely missed the Bama game but other than that I was dead on. 4-1 is a good week anyway you look at it. Fortunately for all of you followers this type of mark is what can be expected week in and week out for the remainder of the season. We may have come up short of those expectations over the first two weeks but it was simply a case of getting my feet wet. So this week take those sizable gains from last week and double it with these selections. Once again I remind you, you are simply investing your money and collecting intrest. Gambling isn't apllicable to a person with my skills and talents.

Steelers vs. Bucs +2.5. The Steelers offense has been terrible this season. Charlie Batch at QB and a team giving points to a undefeated team on the road isn't a winning formula. HOWEVER the Steelers defense is the best in the game and they will give the young Freeman headaches all day. Steelers cover despite another poor offensive performance.

Bengals vs. Panthers +3.5. Big win for the Bengals against a division rival last week. Bengals coming off a big weekend on the road against a team that on paper they should win with ease smells like a LETDOWN game to me. HOWEVER the Bengals have enough weapons on defense which could make for a long debut for Jimmy Clausen. This game comes down to the run. If the Bengals stop the Panthers running attack which has yet to show up this season this could be a tight contest. I just don't see that happening. Bengals and givem.

Falcons vs. Saints -6. Saints return home after a uninspiring Monday night contest. Saints offense has sputtered thus far in 2010 which should make them due for a breakout. Falcons will want to establish the run and eat clock. Another contest that comes down to the running game. I say Falcons can eat enough clock with 10-15 play drives and make it a FG game either way. Falcons +6

Browns vs. Ravens -10.5. Ravens lose a tough division game against a rival at home. The Browns are terrible. To much talent on one side of this contest. Ravens role.

Colts vs. Broncos +6. The first road contest didn't go so well for the Colts as they were smacked around by the Texans. The Broncos don't figure to be as stout of competition as the Texans. The Colts own the Broncos of late and this is another matchup where to much talent is on one side of the field. Colts in a laugher.

Must Watch TV

Saturday 3:30 CBS. Alabama vs. Arkansas. Figures to be a heavyweight battle but if recent history is any indication the Tide will have the 2nd string playing in the 3rd Quarter. This season figures to be different as the Tide D is young and have yet to face a offense the caliber of Arkansas. Even if the Razorbacks can produce some offense it likely won't be enough to keep it close with the Tide.

Saturday 8:00 Oregon State vs. Boise State. Night game blue turf, Boise, ID doesn't resonate your typical Saturday Primetime contest. But, this could be the last hurdle in Boise State road to the title game. Oregon State has lost 2 straight to Boise and have experienced the mayhem that is Boise State football. Winning isn't good enough for the Broncos they must win decisively to maintain their lofty rating. This type of requirements may put added pressure on the Broncos which could cause them to play tense and allow Oregon State to hang around.

Sunday 8:00 NBC Jets vs. Dolphins -2. Matchup for first in the best division in the NFL. The Dolphins come in perfect with a quality win last week on the road in Minnesota. The Jets are also coming off a impressive win edging their rival Patriots at home. This should be a very physical game with limited scoring. The teams familiarity with each other should allow for both teams to exceed double digits in points howeve a 30-27 shootout shouldn't be expected. I selected the Dolphins, to begin the season, as the division winner. I see no reason to change now.
