Spreadology 2010

So last week didn't exactly go as planned. Bitter about the 0-2 slate I gave you last week? Did you lose every dime in the bank and fail to make required payments? If so I would like to send out my sincerest apology. In order to make it up to my loyal followers I have decided to give out more free winners this week. Please, please no need for the applause it is merely the right thing to do. Followers of my picks know that I give winners for those who haven't experienced my winning picks I assure you that the odds of a repeat are as likely as not finding porn on Big Ev's computer. So as I give out these picks get Sal on the phone and double up on last weeks bets and get out of the red. From this point forward no sun block required.

Givem or Takem Money Makin Picks Of The Week

Penn State vs. Alabama -11. Both teams won with ease last week against inferior opponents. Penn State had success last bowl season vs. LSU but they don't have the same talent level as Bama. Penn State brings a freshman QB into Tuscalosa and to make matters worse it's a SEC Night Game. Bama isn't at full strength but they still have enough to pull away after the Half.

Bengals vs. Pats -4. Bengals travel to the Fox in a matchup of playoff squads from last season. For the first time in the Brady era the Patriots aren't the favorites in the AFC East. Meanwhile the Bengals are picked by many to return to the playoffs. Regardless of which prognosticatons you subscribe, both teams appear to be fence teams that no one would be shocked if they went 7-9 or 11-5. Typically a home opener with Brady under center and giving less than a TD would be something I would buy stock in but not this week. Regardless if they win or lose given the Bengals style of play expect nothing more than a FG game.

Miami vs. Buffalo +3. The Dolphins are a team I love this year. Good defense with a offense whose production will suprise people. Marshall is a stud and could be one of the Top 15 players in the league. Typically a trip to Buffalo isn't something to get inspired for but since it's the season opener Sporano will have his boys fired up. I get Marshall, Brown & Co. and Sporano and you get the Bills a occasional Spiller highlight and only three points. If your giving me that gift I'll always accept.

Games To Watch

I realize that the NFL kicks off this week but this weeks college slate is simply incredible. Something like 8 of the Top 15 winningest programs square off this week. Not only that but three of the matchups feature non-traditional rivals whom don't often meet during the regular season. Only drawback to this weeks college action is that if you don't have PIP IN PIP and sometype of College Football Package you are SOL. Check local listings for game availability.

Michigan vs. Notre Dame. NBC 3:30. Big swing game in the schedule for both teams. Regardless of the results both teams figure to be much improved this season. Last years contest went down to the wire with a narrow victory by the Wolverines in the big house.

Florida State vs. Oklahoma. ABC 3:30. FSU looked like the dominate FSU squads of the 90's last week albeit against Samford. Oklahoma looked like anything but a Top 10 team struggling at home against Utah State. Will FSU show up or will they once again come up extremely short in a big game.

Miami vs Ohio State. ABC 3:30. The best matchup in terms of on field talent of the week. A win for the Hurricanes would mean another step closer to becoming a National power once again. For Ohio State Miami appears to be the most athletic team on their schedule.

Penn State vs. Alabama. ESPN 7:00. Penn State travels to the South with a Freshman QB to face the Top team in the country. Bama faces their toughest out of conference mathcup of the season. Regardless of the rankings and possible outcome PSU vs. Alabama with all of the tradition just sounds good to a College Football junkie such as myself.
