In-N-Out The 64/60 Week 15

Things are starting to get interesting. 12 freaking games seperate the 11th place Hell and Damnation from a playoff spot. 12 games is simply two good weeks of baseball and judging by the recent play of many of these squads two good weeks of baseball are certainly possible. In fact some of the hottest teams over the last months are all currently out of the playoffs. Ohio River Carp has a 30-15 mark while the BCFP 28-20, Tude Smackers 27-19 are three of only 5 teams with a record above .500 over the last month. The 9irons 28-19 and Prestige Worldwide 26-18 are the others. I realize that the events over the last month doesn't overide the entire season but I do believe it shows the potential that many of these teams possess.

Game Recaps

Ohio River Carp 7 vs. BCFP 5. This contest was owned by the Carp from Wednesday on but the Factory made a late week run and if it weren't for a typical ugly save by Brad Lidge could have ended in a 6-6 tie. In typical Carp fashion the pitching was excellent posting a ERA once again below 3 which more often than not will coast to a victory against the Factory. This week however the Carp opened up the offense posting a Run total above 50 and solid AVG of .295 and a OPS of .825.

LeMaestero's 41129ers 7 vs. BC Dingers 4. The 41129ers continued to make the second half miserable for the Dingers. Down 7-4 most of the week the 41129ers made a late week charge on offense and pitching to claim the 7-4 win. Both teams had a very solid week with both teams posting ERA below 2.80 with 15HR's and RBI/Run totals above 45. Both teams deserved a W but like a wise man once said a Head to Head league is all about the matchup.

Tude Smackers 8 vs. Los Vonderheides 4. Nearly every team will have a good week throughout the course of a season. Then you will have weeks when the stars align and your boxscore reads 2/4 1HR 3RBI 2Runs with a pitching line of 7IP 1ER 3Hits 0BB 5K. All the way down the line. This week was one of those all time weeks by the Smackers. 23HR's to go with a ERA of 1.21 and a WHIP of .81 all totals that easily are high marks on the season.

Hell and Damnation 10 vs. Rubber Duckies 2. Once again the Rubber Duckies are used as the whipping post of the 64/60. This time it was Hell and Damnation who had the advantage and posted only their 4th win by more than 5 stats on the season. Hell and Damnation have only their second winning streak of the season and both have come over the course of the last mont and a half. Once again it was out of this world pitching which lead the way but this week the offense pitched in posting double digit HR totals and both Runs/RBI above 40 which has been a rarity this season. As for the Duckies it was business as usual and the three game winning streak of a month ago is merely a dim tailight down a dusty country road at this point.

Aramis Ramirez .360/4/5/10/1.233

Barboursville Stars 7 vs. Argumentative 9irons 5. The Stars have been remarakebaly consistent all season. They have had only one losing streak on the year and that was only a two game slide during weeks 6 and 7. This week he followed up last weeks lose with a win over a team he is chasing in the standings. In somewhat shocking fashion it was the Stars offense that lead the way posting 15HR and Run/RBI totals above 40 with double digit steals and solid AVG and OPS totals. For the 9irons it was the same old story played out once agian excellent pitching with no offense to speak of. I do have sympathy for GRC3 as seemingly every player who is assigned to the DL is owned by the 9irons. However I am not to the point where I am willing to get railroad in another trade. Keep trying however all proposals are considered.

Scott Podsednik .393/2/4/6/4/1.071

Prestige Worldwide 6 vs. Hendo Colonels 5. The Colonels slide continues and his distance from 3rd continues to grow. The Colonels have now lost 4 in a row and 5 of 6. Trials and Vacations could be the reason for the downfall or could the recent struggles be more indicative of the lack of talent on the roster. Hopefully for the Colonels the problems will be cured by a little TLC. Meanwhile Worldwide has enjoyed the Colonels meltdown and have firmly planted themselves as the clear cut number 3 team with it's sites set on the top of the leaderboard. Consistency has been the calling card of Prestige this season as they have the best W-L record in the league.

Starlin Castro .407/1/4/6/1/1.095 Didn't Mr. Lee suggest cannning the Starman?

Head Scratcher of the Week- BC Dingers drop Wandy Rodriguez. Figured I would give Mr. Ward a week off and second guess the Basher Of Rubber Balls. This has nothing to do with Wandy's one hitter on Sunday, this is simply because Wandy has been a Top 15 pitcher over the last month plus of the season. Yes Wandy's season totals will not floor you but given his production over the last month combined with his expected level of play prior to the start of the season one would think that this level of production can continue for an extended period of time. I realize T-Ball Timmy will claim that his pitching depth afforded him little options but Wandy seems to be one you would find a way to hold onto.

Pickup of the Week- Wandy Rodriguez by the BCFP. Once again ignore the one hitter on Sunday. Top 15 Pitcher is just what the Factory has been looking for and all that was given up was Freddy Garcia what a deal.

Trade Analysis- LeMaestro's 41129ers receive Clayton Kershaw, Matt Kemp and Anibal Sanchez from Los Vonderheides for Evan Longoria, Jaime Garcia and AJ Burnett. On paper the trade doesn't look one sided. Kemp and Longoria have both been a disappointment this season. Kershaw and Garcia have similar stat lines minus the K's and both Burnett and Sanchez are good at times and really bad at times. In Burty Ballgames world however this was thievery at it's finest by the 41129ers. Longoria is a better power hitter but Kemp has more across the board potential. Kershaw is a legit stud pitcher. Garcia meanwhile is a great example of favorable underlying numbers that paint a better picture than the talent would suggest. Burnett is a more attractive option than Sanchez but he has really struggled this season and could be in danger should the Yankees acquire another arm at the deadline.

LeMaestro's 41129ers receive Mariano Rivera from the Tude Smackers for BJ Upton. Another steal by the 41129ers. Upton could be the most overated player in fantasy baseball who's only asset is SB but that comes at the expense of OPS and AVG. Upton could also be in danger should the Rays acquire another OF at the deadline. Upton would not be relegated to Bench duty but could see AB taken away depending on the situation. Meanwhile Rivera is an elite option at the closer position. Rivera isn't as valuable to the 41129ers at this point because he is their lone closer but he at least gives them the possibility of picking up some saves.

* Be sure to check out this weeks installment of the Power Rankings as the Factory will inform all owners on what they should be looking to acquire this week before the deadline passes.

Pitching depth has nothing to do with it, Pinnochio.

Wandy is simply way too much of an up and down pitcher. EXAMPLE: He gives up 30 runs to the Cubbies and then turns around and damn near no-hits the best offensive team in the NL.

He is the kind of guy who will cost you in the playoffs....Should you even make it.....you will see.
