Ok, after a night of drinking some Yuengling's on Flo's porch on a sultery summer night here on England Hill, I'm primed and ready for another post.
First off, the sounds of frogs chirping around the pool and the 10 million lighting bugs lighting the sky are all too familiar sights of the summer months, but one sight I will not be able to get used to is the lack of lights eminating from Carl Hicks Stadium that illuminate all of South Catlettsburg. It seems as if the days of games from morning into the wee hours of the summer nights are trully a thing of the past. That trully does break this old cats heart...
Rey Ramano was spotted wearing a Kentucky tee, Walter McCarty is walking out on Pitino and the Dirty Birds from the Dirty South, John Wall has been pegged to resurect the Reebok brand which is now owned by Nike, and in the course making hime a gazillionaire already, and he is not even drafted yet.
What started out as an off color attempt at humor by Ev at the draft, and then he realized that quite a few of us are fans, The World Cup is upon us. It's ok to like soccer, or futbol, it does not mean that we are going to have to hang out with Derek Jones and Joey Virgin... It does not mean that Grey Senters is our friend... Those fools used soccer as a crutch to attempt to be athletes but at the same time seem like they had several layers to who they were as people...well we call bull shit on that, but I trully do enjoy soccer, and though have of the country can't tell you who is on the US team, and no Alexi Lalas has not played for years, Saturday will be a day in which Americans go nuts and root like mad for our footballer's as we attempt to take down the queen. It's America, Fuck Yeah. The World Cup for those who refuse it's legitimacy, is like March Maddness on a global scale. This is the USA's best chance, well ever, at winning the cup in recent events. We got a favorable draw and we are fielding a great team. Tis could be a magical run for Capatalist...US play starts saturday against England. Fuck the queen.
The Super BCS Conferences that I had mentioned are going to come a step closer, Nebraska as early as tonight will announce that they are leaving the BIG 12 and are heading to the BIG 10. Missouri will follow suit, and The Texas and Oklahoma schools will decide Thursday is they are leaving for the Pac 10, you know, that scary Pac 10. I don't think those schools will leave the Big 12, and that conference will pick up last seasons BCS darling TCU. The Super SEC that I had made note of in the most unlikely of scenarios may still happen yet, but the most likely big move to the SEC would be possibly Miami from the ACC. This is going to be a change two years in the making, but the superconferences will take shape in the next two years, and it may force the hand of a playoff.
I can't believe that the 64/60 has not made note of something as monumental as the death of John Wooden.
John Wooden is dead. There you have it.
Kentucky Jr. SS Chris Bisson was taken 124th by the San Diego Padres in this years draft. Led the Cats with 32 SB's, and was an all SEC Selection the past two seasons.
Another Cat, who after a publicized dispute with the school decided not to return to Lexington but play in an Independent league ala Ricky Henderson and Jose Canseco, James Paxton, P, went 132nd to the Seattle Mariners..
Speaking of Baseball, the Greatest Player I have ever seen play, and maybe a player who marked my childhood better than any, Ken Griffey Jr. has retired. Now, this happened a week or so ago, and like the Wooden passing, well actually I think the above statements on Wooden are the propper send off, did not get the propper hype or send off here on the site. Though he was over weight and hurt most of the last 5 seasons or so, The Kid still remained the best player I had ever seen play. But, like everything else about my childhood, The Kid has gone the way of Saturday Morning Cartoons, The rubber band mid-section of GI Joe, and Donruss Diamond Kings....Thankfully, my childhood will not go away completely any time soon as it would appear that Ric Flair will never die...me saying that probably just put him on the clock...sorry Naitch'.
I swear to god, I think that Jim Ross would make an excellent college football announcer on those fall afternoons.
College Rugby caught my attention on NBC this last weekend....I love rugby and would love to see more of it on the networks...
I am still turning towards Strikeforce as being my choice for MMA entertainment. There is something about UFC that has left me dissapointed with some of the recent offerings, and the fact that Dana White's moronic ass is no where to be found in Strikeforce helps. However, TUF offering from UFC never disapoints, and it has replaced, and I am sure I am not the only one, Pro Wrestling in my choice for sports entertainment viewing. I have said it before, MMA does Pro Wrestling better than Pro Wrestling does it's self..
Holy shit it's Midgets, Beer and Blood... The Miniscule Matinee of Manliness comes to Ironton, OH tonight, Now, it trully does take something special to get me to go to Sodom and Gamora, and The Micro Wrestling Federation fits the bill. The MWF joins Ashland-Ironton Football, KIlah McDaniels, and Indoor CornHole at the End Zone as the only reasons I have ever traveled to that peice of shit wasteland. Those little guys may never ride roller coasters, but they can kick their selves in the head. It's a fair trade off..
Fuck You Kobe Bryant, you adultress.....
is it just me, or does Ray Allan look like he has bell's palsy???

Chris, I agree, But the fact that they are making him Michael McGuillicutty is absurd!!! Jesus he is the son of Curt Hennig!!! why would you hide that??? And making Rotundo's son use that retrarded name they have him using is equally absurd, but I am digging his boots.....

That's it for now....
Slow Down... this is a neighborhood.

Strikeforce is the bastardized, circus version of the UFC. When you dont have the elite talent UFC has you have to stoop to some pro wrestling antics.

brock over carwin

franklin over chuck

Todd, if you meant to say that Strikeforce presents their product in a way that is an alternative to the UFC and exploits what they have instead of dwelling on what they don't have, then I would agree with what you said...but you didn't, so I give no credence to your statement...keep wearing those affliction shirts....

dont own an affliction shirt.

Strikeforce has more tv hosts (miller) then top 10 fighters.

Strikeforce has King Mo and that is all you need to know...Secondly, when someone who questions the theatrical hook in the presentation of, gasp, a Television product, that means made for TV, and that person is the same who hung out with Joey Bennett and referenced himself as Todd Del Ray for backyard wrestling purposes, I have to say, I kinda have to ignore and shrug off your comments...

my famed backyard wrestling career is beside the point. i just prefer an organization that has the best talent not one that has to have pyros and after the bell brawls.

You, sir, are a fool to make this claim.

Two words.....

Fedor Emelianenko

i was waiting for a fedor comment.

fedor is great but you cant say he is the best heavyweight in the world. he hasn't fought anyone of signifiance. i question his duribility and fight selections. dont get me wrong, he's a real good fighter but he is afraid of the UFC. i.e. brock

Jesus Titty Fucking Christ.....

In the past, 10 years Fedor has fought at least one fight per year and has beat Arlovski, Sylvia, Rogers, Choi, Hunt, Coleman, Martins, Filipovic, Kosaka, Nog, Ogawa, Randleman, Coleman, Herring, etc. etc. etc.

He has never been KO'd or submitted or lost a decision.

His record is 31-1 (one loss by Dr stoppage).

Brock lost to Frank Mir via a weak submission.

WWE nuthugger IMO.

Afraid of the UFC? He has beaten a large number of the competitors. More likely, it is that he wants to get paid and the UFC won't provide.

I suggest you pull Brock's chest penis from your mouth and do a bit of research before you make yourself look like a mindless assfuck.

Thank you.

Thank you Jesse. Ogawa alone could probably handle all of the UFC Heavys by himself... UFC is just LIKE the WWE.. They throw these big ass holes in the ring and TELL you they are the best in the business... The only thing keeping Fedor away from the UFC is the fact he will not let Dana White feed him bullshit, not the UFC roster... If being fed bull shit and getting raped on gross income from fights makes you elite, then by all means, Fedor is not elite.

I like Lesnar. But, He beats you with hammer fist and not skill. Fedor, is the most skilled heavy in the world today... I like UFC, Strikeforce(Not Tito Santana and Rick Martell) entertains me the most, PRIDE was the best Company thus far, and yes, Kimbo Slice is a cool Mutha Fucka...just can't beat white people...

he beat arlovski coleman and sylvia when they were a step slower. rogers damn near beat him. ill give ya nog and ogawa but they arn't world class.

herring? herring is shitty at best and he's rarely that.

im not even a huge brock fan, i just think he murders fedor one on one.

jesseward said...

You can't prove anything you wrote in that last statement.

I'm not participating in this conversation any longer, if these are the type of nonsense responses I am going to argue against.

Go fuck yourself.

jesseward said...

And... Rogers did not even come close to beating him.

Fedor only resorted to the guard one time after a failed submission attempt. Outside of one jab, Rogers mounted no offense.

Maybe we didn't watch the same fight.

MMA seems to be a lightning rod topic. I don't follow the sport but I do have issues with the fact that no one has a figure four or Boston Crab as a finishing manuever. And I have yet to see a Shawn Michaels foot stomp that indicates the match is near the end. Whomever embraces these theatrics will reign supreme.

Josh,

Agreed.

rogers one jab almost ended it. and if memory serves me it was square in fedors grill.

i think i won the arguement after the fact that heath herring was used as evidence to support your argument.

I'm going to give you 24 hours to consider your comment about a jab nearly knocking Fedor out. During this time, I suggest you consider that it wasn't your gelatin ass taking a jab from Rogers, this was the arguably greatest professional fighter on the planet who has never been knocked out in a professional fight.

And secondly, consider this... arguments about what almost happened or what could have happened are pointless because you (or anyone for that matter) don't know the future. If you want to play with the big boys you will need to learn how to do it.

Here is what did happen though:

The Heath Herring one was a fairly funny joke but the point actually weakens your argument because you forgot the fact that Brock was unable to finish Herring after 3 rounds. So, if Herring is such a fish, why couldn't Brock do what Fedor did? Bad match up for Brock? I doubt it.

You can think whatever you want about winning this argument; no one cares though.

24 hours.... go to your room and think about what you said.
