In-N-Out The 64/60 Week 12

This week marked the end of the 9irons run atop the standings as the BC Dingers once again claim the top spot. Week 12 featured one tie game and three contest decided by 2 stats or less. There was some other movements in the standings. The B'Ville Stars moved into the 5th spot in the standings while the 41129ers slipped into the 6th spot. The 41129ers have struggled in the pitching department the last couple of weeks and has come to realize that Streamin Ain't Easy. Thanks to the decisive 9-3 win Hell and Damnation moved up one spot to 9th while the Ohio River Carp continues it freefall to the bottom of the league standings. Rubber Duckies once again showed some life but had a tough matchup this week with the Colonels. Unlike the Nats the Duckies have actually played much better since the arrival of the Stras. The season is heating up Big Z style and it's time for the contenders to seperate themselves from the pretenders.

Weekly Recap

LeMaestro's 41129ers 6 vs. Argumentative 9irons 6. This matchup ended with a verbal sparring over another 41129ers move. It appears that all parties have agreed to disagree but stay tuned. Hopefully this won't spew over into the next Swing and Swim event. In typical 9irons fashion the Pitching was dominate winning 4 of 6 stats while offense struggled somewhat. At the start of the season I fully expected the 9irons to be a good team but I anticipated the offense being among the leagues best while the pitching was suspect. Up to this point the 9irons have been as advertised record wise but it has been because of the pitching and not the hitting. Just one of the many things I have been wrong about this season. As for the 41129ers they played with a wide variety of rosters because of trades and Free agent pickups but that should always be expected when playing the 41129ers the effect on one's psychy is part of the gameplan. THe 41129ers captured 4 of 6 offensive stats and earned the 6-6split.

Bear Creek FP Factory 5 vs. Prestige Worldwide 4. In a rematch from a week 1 classic the Factory owned the matchup for most of the week. Once again however a terrible Sunday and the damn Sunday Night Baseball game turned a 10-2 BCFP edge into a slim 5-4 win. Heading into the Sunday Night Baseball matchup the Factory held a 7-3 edge but once again a late inning HR moved the margin to 5-4. For those of you who don't recall in Week 1 the Factory held a slim lead over Worldwide but Albert Pujols connected of Trevor Hoffman in the 9th to bring the game to a 5-5 or 6-6 tie. At this point in the season I will take any win. The W breaks a 4 game skid for the Factory and as I stated last week my season began with Week 11. For Worldwide this is just a minor setback and only their second loss on the season. Besides Worldwides focus has somewhat turned away from the 64/60 Baseball and to defending the UFC and it's greatness.

MVP- Carlos Quentin .389 4HR 6RUns 11RBI 1.633OPS

Hendo Colonels 7 vs. Rubber Duckies 5. After scuffling a bit the last couple of weeks the Colonels found their footing against the Duckies. The Colonels once again produced good Run Totals as well as HR and RBI totals which have become common place over the last few weeks. The Colonels have a odd trend developing though as the last two weeks have produced double digit HR totals but very pedestrian OPS totals. Don't know what it means but it is a rare feat. The Duckies once again played well this week but the hottest team in the 64/60 couldn't take the winning streak to four.

MVP- Michael Young .400 3HR 8Runs 7RBI 1.324OPS

Barboursville Stars 7 vs. Tude Smackers 5. Between getting hammered every week in this very posting and releasing some of his highest draft selections, the Stars have found the time to win three consecutive contest and strengthen his grip on the 5th spot in the standings. Typically the Stars rely on strong pitching performances and enough offense to survive. That was not the case this week as the Stars produced some of his best offensive numbers this season while the pitching struggled to a tune of a 5.46 ERA. The Smackers have now lost 7 consecutive contest and are left to wonder what if everyday he sees another Josh Hamilton highlight. The evil one seems to be back in the fold and this seems to be the calm before the storm. Expect a major move that could reverse the fortunes of the Smackers and bring the 64/60 to it's knees.

MVP- Dustin Pedroia .462 3HR 5Runs 5RBI 1.819OPS

Hell and Damnation 9 vs. Los Vonderheides 3. This wasn't a easy game to stomach for those who favor a slugfest. When totals of 36 Runs, 38RBI, .237AVG, and a .640OPS are good enough for victory you are thankful for the schedule. Hell and Damnation have their first winning streak and ownership are living the high life and eating it up. As for the Vonderheides they have now lost four in a row and their once firm grip on the .500 mark and 7th place has vanished. The Vonderheides have had a roster overhaul over the last week so we will see if the changes will pay dividens.

MVP- John Axford 3SV 6K 2.25ERA 1.25WHIP 13.50K/9

BC Dingers 9 vs. Ohio River Carp 2. Those damn Dingers win again and find themselves at the top of the standings. After struggling in Weeks 7 and 8 the Dingers have now found their groove and have pulled of 4 straight W's. The Dingers didn't have a easy task this week with the Carp who played the role of tough luck loser as the Dingers posted some of the best offensive numbers in the week along with some very productive pitching. The Carp's struggles continue. The Carp have now lost 6 in a row and 8 or 9 and have only two wins on the season. I have no doubt the Carp will continue to tinker but it appears that a blockbuster acquisition will be needed to turn this thing around.

MVP- David Wright .500 2HR 7Runs 8RBI 1SB 1.510OPS

Pickup Up Of The Week- Two transactions caught the eye of the commish. The best player picked up over the week was Carlos Lee by Hell and Damnation. Yes Lee has had his struggles but one has to believe a turnaround is immenent. Lee has been a 100 RBI player for 5 straight season and 6 of the last 7 not bad for a 27 FAAB bid. Tyler Colvin Tude Smackers has played well in a limited role and given the announcement that Colvin will have more of a every day role, Colvin could be a viable option moving forward.

Head Scratcher of The Week- Tude Smackers drop Carlos Lee. Yes Lee has struggled and yes I just gave a thumbs up to Colvin but Lee simply has too long of a track record to cut ties with. He is simply that player who you suffer through the bad times with regardless of how bad it gets because history would suggest that things will get better.

Trade Evaluation- BC Dingers trade Matt Kemp, Adam Dunn and Carlos Zambrano to the Vonderheides for Garrett Jones, Miguel Cabrera and Josh Johnson. I thought this trade was resonable from both sides. Yes Cabrera is the number one player overall this season but it seems unlikely that this current pace will hold up. While the Kemp and Dunn duo gives more production across the board. Zambrano was a throw in and Jones is slightly above your waiver wire replacement. Kemp has struggled thus far but the 30/30 potential is so enticing. The key to the deal will be Johnson due to the increase in innings pitched last year I worry about a future DL stint. If Johnson avoids injury and is remotely close to the pitcher up to this point then this deal will favor Ding Dong if not I like the offensive balance across the board of Kemp/Dunn.

64/60 at the NFBC for the first time we have the top spot at weeks end. We also moved up 5 spots in the overall and are now among the Top 25 teams among the 288Double Play Live Teams.

Josh,

With all due respect you are contradicting a previous blog post.

Regardless, I'm in 3rd to last place and something must be done.

Carlos Lee blows cock.

Jesse,

Yes Carlos Lee is a older player but unlike the players I mentioned in the other post Lee has not shown any signs of regression over the last few seasons. Yes something must be done to reverse the current course you are on and Colvin is a interesting pickup as I noted but perhaps Lee could have had enough trade value to get something any return. Yes Carlos Lee blows cock thus far.

I need a turnaround...

Carlos Lee is batting ~.220 this season. If that isn't regression....
