In-N-Out The 64/60 Week 6

It was a week of beatdowns in the 64/60 this week as only one contest was decided by less than three categories. Across the league it was more of a pitching week than a hitting week as many of the leagues best turned in some unimpressive offensive numbers. Some separation was made this week as now the Dingers have a 7.5 game lead on second place 9irons and a 17.5 game lead on the Hebrewers. It appears as though everyone's wish for Christopher to finally miss the playoffs may have to wait until Football season. So far this season he has been the leagues most consistent team and the numbers validate his place at the top of the standings. The Dingers have a 5-1 record so far and no other team in the league has more than 3 wins. I would like to make it clear that I am not conceding anything to the Dingers but the Corey Haim wanna be should feel pretty comfortable in his playoff pursuit. In other league news the highly criticized Maccabi Hebrewers smacked around the Bear Creek FP Factory this week. The Factory has been labeled a Hebrew doubter and the Hebrewers wanted the Factory to know who they played last week. Mission accomplished. Once again the 41129ers were bitter on Sunday afternoon. The continued efforts of the leagues most active owner has yet to payoff as the 41129ers have now lost two in a row despite a excellent rotation and constant tinkering of the roster. 41129er ownership is demanding a review at season end of some of the tactics that the ownership of other teams use. This could make for some interesting drama at some upcoming 64/60 events. The 9irons once again showed why they are a legit squad this season. Many of the doubters have been out in full force over the past two weeks as the 9irons had fallen in two straight. The 9irons have made some moves over the last two weeks in a effort to plug up some shortcomings. Time will tell if they pay off but the desired result has been meet thus far. The Colonels continue on with business as usual. Winners of two straight the Colonels sit third in the standings and in typical Hendo fashion with little roster movement and no trash talk.

Game Recap

Maccabi Hebrewers 8 vs. BCFP 3. The Hebrewers wanted blood. They wanted justice for the comments made by Ownership of the Factory. The words "Know how to win." have been etched into the mind of Joshua Gilbert. The Hebrewers accomplished their objective with the 8-3 W. The Hebrewers did enough on offense and simply dominated pitching with quality start after quality start. The Win put the Hebrewers back into the 6th spot and sends the Factory down into the leagues wasteland.

MVP- Andrew McCutchen .381 1 HR, 6 Runs, 3RBI, 2 SB, .982 OPS

League Best: Hebrewers- WHIP .92

Hendo Colonels 9 vs. Tude Smackers 3. No roster manipulation or loop hole seeking needed from the Colonels. Dave Hobson is quickly becoming the Will Hunting of the 64/60. He doesn't spend any time on research or scouting he just plays and it just makes since. Every year the Colonels seem to field a winner and this year looks to be no different. As for the Smackers it is their first set back in two weeks but with this weeks rematch from last years championship the Smackers are likely heading for two straight losses and a drop in the standings.

MVP- Shane Victorino .435 1HR, 8 RUns 7 RBI 1 SB 1.388 OPS

League Best- Colonels HR 12, Smackers SV 9

BC Dingers 11 vs. Rubber Duckies 1. The Ducks continue to suck while the Dingers continue to pound their chest and pinch their nipples all while gelling their hair. THis was your typical one sided contest as only a 3.95 ERA was good enough to earn a stat for the Duckies. Reports of the Duckies being purchased by the 64/60 are not true. I spoke with ownership of the Duckies today and he has assured me that he will continue to not pay attention nor put a competitive product on the field so that was good enough for me. To avoid being critcized for lack of praise by Chris I would like to announce to the world that Chris has been at the top spot 5 out of 6 weeks he has a 5-1 record and has easily been the leagues best thus far. Chris if I omitted anything please let me know.

MVP- Hunter Pence .320/3/5/7/0/1.080

League Best- Dingers HR 12

Argumentative 9irons 10 vs. Hell and Damnation 1. The 9irons finally showed some life this week. After being annoited as the team to beat by some the 9irons had feel on hard times losing two in a row. With the lopsided victory the 9irons climbed back into the 2 spot with a potential match for number 1 this week against the Dingers. The 9irons offense finally performed up to it's potential this week and the pitching held it's own. As for H&D they continue to struggle from front office turmoil that happened three weeks ago. For the sake of everyone involved I hope the truth does indeed set you free.

MVP- James Loney .346/3/7/8/0/1.96

League Best- 9irons SB 14

Ohio River Carp 7 vs. LeMaestro's 41129ers 3. Another week another angry phone call. The 41129ers have spent countless hours trying to get this thing right. Dammit they want rewarded for their sacrifices. Tom Hanks was wrong their is crying in baseball and I have heard the weeping for two consecutives weeks on Sunday Night in the 41129. All I can suggest Mr. Lemaster is just remain patient tweak the roster as I am sure you will and give it hell once more. As for the Carp they picked up a much needed win that breaks a two game losing streak. Maybe this is the game that will provide the springboard back into contention.

MVP- Ryan Zimmerman .345/3/7/8/0/1.096

League Best- ORC Runs 54, ORC RBI 54, ORC K 75, 41129ers ERA 2.27, 41129ers K/9 9.24, 41129ers QS 8.

Prestige Worldwide 7 vs. B'Ville Stars 5. The only game with any real drama. Presitge held off the Stars by edging them by one run and 3 K's. The slim margins of victory propelled Worldwide to the W. Despite a minor setback last week Prestige has been the second hottest team in the 64/60. This weeks win gives him a 3-1 record over the last 4 weeks. The lose breaks a two game winning streak by the Stars. Both teams still find themselves over the .500 mark and both figure to be real threats for playoff spots.

MVP- Martin Prado .367/3/4/11/0/1.084

League Best- Worldwide: AVG .312, OPS .910

Season Highs and Season Lows Set This Week

Highs- 9irons SB 14, Hebrewers WHIP .92, Smackers SV 9, 41129ers ERA 2.27, 41129ers QS 8

Lows- Duckies Runs 29, Duckies Saves 0, Duckies K's 30, 41129ers SV 0, Worldwide SB 1

Pick Up of the Week

Mat Latos 41129ers. Latos has K potential and plays in a pitcher's park to say the least. Only concern is a possible innings limit on Latos given his age but even with a limit he could bring you good value.

Head Scratcher of the Week

Austin Kearns- B'Ville Stars. Kearns has had a fine season thus far and certianly warrants a possible roster spot. That said Kearns would have likely cleared Waivers and could have been picked up via free agency.

Trade Breakdown

41129ers obtain BJ Upton from the 9irons for Jason Bay and Ricky Romero. Pretty logical from both sides. The 41129ers get the best overall player while the 9irons still get a good bat in return and much needed pitching help. For this trade to be a success for both teams Romero must not fade down the stretch as he did in 09 and Upton must return to the 20 HR player of 07.

64/60 at the NFBC

Still 9 of 12 but huge strides have been made. We now are legit contenders for a league crown assuming we can maintain both the hitting and pitching productions from the last two weeks. Overall we are 188 of 288 and up 20 spots from last week.

I love these recaps...Love em'. I catch myself reading them aloud in a very crappy 6 o'clock news style blatantly ripping off Howard Cosell...I read them even louder when they say things like this...
Great Work as always Burty Gammons...

Agreed, I enjoy them too.

What I don't enjoy is my fucking team. They are hopeless and I am giving up. New strategy for next season.
