In-N-Out The 64/60 Week 2

Week 2 is in the books and the 9irons look to be the team to beat in the early going. The 9irons bats have been possibly the best in the league and the pitching lead by Roy Halladay has been just as dominate in the early stages of the 2010 campaign. Only four teams find themselves above .500 and the BC Dingers join the 9irons as the only two teams that have been dominate thus far. For the record Christopher's reign at the top of the standings is officially over for those of you keeping score at home. The Rubber Duckies find themselves at the bottom of the standings with a record of 3 Wins and 21 losses. It is still to early to come to any conclusions for the season but with only 7 games separating 3 from 11 it is shaping up to be a very entertaining year.

Barboursville Stars 8 vs. Bear Creek FP Factory 4. The Stars got of to a big lead and held on as the Factory once again made a late week push. The Stars pitched really well during the week and the offense was solid. The Stars had huge weeks from both Scott Podsednik and Derek Jeter who managed to both hit over .500 for the week. On the mound it was Adam Wainwright who lead the way. When Wainwright stepped to the mound Sunday Night the Factory actually had the chance for a 6-6 tie but after a shaky 2nd inning Wainwright settled down and had a masterful performance for both the Cardinals and the Stars.

Weekly Highs- Saves T-5 (BCFP), ERA 2.66 Stars, Quality Starts 8 Stars

MVP- Adam Wainwright- 2 QS 16K 1.06ERA .76WHIP 8.47K/9

BC Dingers 10 vs. Maccabi Hebrewers 1. The score wasn't indicative of the contest. The Hebrewers could have easily won this game 8-4. Most of the categories had little separation and as usually happens the "hair gelled one" got it done. The Dingers had a decent week with the sticks but it was the pitching that lead the way. As for the Hebrewers even after the double digit loss they find themselves in the middle of the pack thanks to last weeks big win.

Weekly Highs- Saves T-5 (Dingers), K's T-65 Dingers, K/9 9.14 Dingers

MVP- Matt Kemp- .333 4HR 8Runs 8RBI 1SB 1.289OPS

Ohio River Carp 8 vs. Hendo Colonels 3. The Carp earned their first win of the season while the Colonels tasted defeat for the first time. After a terrible pitching performance last week the Carp may have had the best output in the league this week. The Carp posted a ERA below 3 and a WHIP below 1. The Colonels had a good week at the plate but the Carp was simply better. This was a contest that was decided by Saturday morning leaving only the final score in doubt.

Weekly Highs- ERA 2.66 Carp, WHIP .98, Runs 53 Colonels, SB 14 Colonels

MVP- Alberto Callaspo .333 HR 2 Runs 4 RBI 8 SB 1 OPS .913

Hell and Damnation 5 vs. Tude Smackers 5. It was a sad night in the Coleman household Sunday Evening. Very few people can make Ashley Coleman angrier than myself. One of those people are Jesse Ward. Ashley wanted nothing more than to bring misery to the male chauvinist Jesse Ward. She had venom oozing from her fangs all week and as Saturday Night came and went H&D had a 8-3 lead while the Smackers needed many things to go right to just earn the tie. As Sunday's events played out Ashley painfully sit and watched the computer screen as one by one each of the scenarios played out and the 8-3 lead ended in a 6-6 tie.

Weekly Highs- Saves T-5 Smackers, AVG .316 Hell and Damnation

MVP- Carlos Pena 292 3HR 6Runs 9RBI 1SB 1.037 OPS

LeMaestro's 41129ers 6 vs. Prestige Worldwide 6. Another week another tie by Prestige. This battle was back and forth all week and little separated the two teams. At least 7 categories could have easily been won by either team as Runs, RBI, SB, OPS, ERA, WHIP and K/9 was a toss up. The 41129ers had a much better week than last weeks 11-1 setback and Prestige has simply had bad luck after the first two weeks of the season.

Weekly Highs- K's T-65 41129ers, Saves T-5 Prestige

MVP- Andre Ethier .423 3HR 4Runs 9RBI 1.234OPS

Argumentative 9irons 11 vs. Rubber Duckies 1. The 9irons put together another fine week of well balanced production both with the sticks and on the mound. On the flipside the Duckies continued their early season struggles. Anytime you combine a .238 AVG with a 5.13 ERA the results aren't going to be pretty. As for the 9irons you know things are going good when you have a player hit 5HR's in a week and he isn't your MVP for the week.

Weekly Highs- HR 16 9irons, RBI 62 9irons, OPS .914 9irons, Saves T-5 9irons

MVP- Shin-Soo Choo .579 3HR 5Runs 11RBI 1SB 1.891OPS

Pick Ups Of the Week

Jeff Francouer- Maccabi Hebrewers. Francouer played well after his move to New York and has gotten of to a good start this season. Francouer likely isn't a .300 hitter but he is a legit 20-30 HR option and should stay in the middle of the Mets lineup as long as he is healthy.

Corey Hart- Prestige Worldwide. Scared many owners off after it was announced that Jim Edmonds would start the opener. Hart is still the starter in Milwaukee and given Edmonds advanced age and Carlos Gomez's inability to hit at the big league level he will be given a chance to play. Hart hasn't been hot to start the year but he has hit the ball hard in the early going and is a 20/20 type player.

Cameron Maybin- LeMaestro's 41129ers. The man who loves the hot young prospect could have one that will pay off. Maybin has gotten off to a good start in 2010 and although he likely isn't a .300 hitter if he can manage to stay near the top of the lineup he should be expected to score 80 Runs and is a SB threat with some pop. More upside than your typical OF FA pickup.

Head Scratcher of the Week

Erik Aybar- LeMaestro's 41129ers. Erik Aybar is a decent MI option on draft day. He can hit in the 290 range and will bat near the top of the Angels lineup. But he has no power and isn't much of a SB threat. He certainly isn't worth a $25 FAAB bid when you only have 75 left for the entire season. Add in the fact that to acquire Aybar you dropped Johnny Peralta who, it could be argued, is a better option than Aybar to begin with. Butch has always been a man who goes against the grain.

The 64/60 at the NFBC

It was a better week 2 than week 1. The pitching had a very solid week as Sabathia, Carpenter and Danks all had nice outings. We finally picked up are first Saves of the season on Sunday. The hitting continues to struggle but as I stated last week, I feel really good about the potential production of are offense. We are still currently in 12th place in the league but have moved up 14 spots in the overall standings to 260 of 288.

*Coming Next Week: The First Installment of the BCFP Power Rankings also Weekly Season Highs will be noted in the breakdown section along with the Lows.

It's your thorough and concise post game synopsis that make you the best in the business Burt, I enjoy your lamenation of all things Fantasy Baseball...It's things like this that makes Burty Ballgame a tour de force in the realm of Fantasy Strategist..

Thank you for your support Gilbert.

I would love to know how you get that the Hebrewers could have just as easily won 8-4 as opposed to losing 10-1........Seriously, if your gonna make such absurd statements, I would like to see really look at the stats and somehow back that assertion up.

Actually Bopp, He is right, If it were not to the lead that you built on day 2, you would have lost...I won every offensive category and took at least 1 of the pitching categories every day after day 2, the day you jumped out to the lead. You ended up winning by like 2 points in every category. A win for you yes...But a dominating one...well not so much... Calling Burt out for his commentary on what actually happened was uncalled for and I think you need to apologize to him. If Burt's musings on truthful matters angers you so, quit reading what he writes. No more anger issues, less stress on tax payers..we all win...

Once again Gilbert thank you for thinking it through. Iceman looks at the 10-1 score instead of the numbers perhaps 8-4 was a little much but easily a 6-5 defeat could have been the result.

Bopp said...

Well, Coleman didn't prefice his argument by saying lets not count my day 2 or whatever or that 8-4 was "pushin it"

The "close" categories are as follows

I won by 5 runs
40+ points BA
80+ points OPS
3 Saves
65+ points ERA/25+ points WHIP/and 45+ points Kper9/and 4 QS

In one days time, yeah, you could consider these close...but over the course of the week its not really that close at all.

Both of you should think before you speak.

Coleman could have nitpicked every game like this, but only threw the misguided and uninformed shot my way.....Out of jealousy?....I would assume.

Chris, just stop. The tantrems are not very becoming, and are a bit passe at this juncture of adulthood. I can also say with utmost certainty that I am not nor will I ever be Jealous of anything you have or will acheive, either in the land of make believe or reality. If you have a deep rooted spirit of mis-guided importance and some sort of sword fighting-esque rivalry with Burt, so be it...That does not concern me at all...furthur more, do not ever make a comment about me needing to think before I speak... I hope that you are not calling my mental acumen into question...Unfortunately, it would seem as if you were...that being the case, I suggest you take your own advice in the future.

I don't know what your short story (above) has to do with the silly argument that you and Coleman were trying to make, but whatever.

Let me repeat.....Think before you speak.

Josh Gilbert said...

The short story has to do with you getting your feelings hurt and then throwing toddler-like fits..Coleman pointed out the obvious and it bruised your fragile little ego...somehow you convinced yourself it was done out of jealousy and that everyone is jealous of you, which I have yet to see some sort of proof that would even allow a thought of jealousy towards you. There is good natured ribbing and competitiveness, but then there is just nauseating, overbearing egotistical smuggness...It would appear this falls in the later..Now, I for one don't give a fuck what you do or say...could care less, however since you seem to want to repeat what you say, like you have some way to back all you silliness up, Let me also repeat something... Take your own advice...
