The Pam and Daddy Mel, not Christie Willis, Tillis late night nothing on TV Vince Mcmahon update..

This has been said several times already, but I am gonna throw my nickel in the pond.
Get ready for some Cal bashing. Bobby Knight probably has a copy of the news release in his bathroom getting ready for some "Bobby" time. The NCAA refused the appeal of Memphis to not be forced to vacate the wins from it's National Semi-final season. Now, read the facts for yourself. Yes, Memphis did use an ineligble Derrick Rose. No Memphis nor the coaching staff, more specific John Calipari had any idea that he was ineligble. Why did they not know something that could un-legitimize their entire season? Because the NCAA had already looked over the paperwork and various testing scores and ruled, not once, but twice that Rose was ELIGIBLE.
It's not mafia hitmen, dirty coaches, boosters of ill-repute, or Las Vegas bookies that ruin the College Basketball Game, it is the game's largest governing body, the NCAA, that does it. Hell, the criminal element mentioned previously probably acts in a way that is better for the game then the faction that supposedly holds up the integrity of it.
This is just another example in a long line of NCAA fuck ups. They will continue until the NCAA is restructured or abandoned completely.
Now, my next rant that has to do with all this...DO NOT OFFER PAYCHECKS TO COLLEGE ATHLETES. Granted they are handicapped by the vow of poverty that one most take to be a big time D1 athlete. But, are we supposed to be neive enough to believe that nobody is reaping some sort of monetary gains by going to a particular institution. No, it goes on everyday, sometimes the schools know, other times they are trully oblivious.
The oppurtunity to go to the largest universities in the country , for FREE and potentially improve your chances to make a living at whatever sport you are particpating in , and the world class training facilities and medical care you recieve becasue of your status of an athlete is payment enough. Now, not even half of even D1 athletes go pro, yet they, and thier counterparts in the D2, D3 and NAIA levels mostly reap the benefits of free education. Those are your paychecks right there. Walk-ons and programs that do not offer scholarships obvioulsy do not apply to this rule. Now, they tie the hands of thier student athletes by not letting them have jobs to supplement income...throw that rule out. If they want to work in the off season, don't hammper them by only allowing them to earn so much money. And illegal gifts and money from Boosters and Agents..who cares...If somebody wants to give a kid a new rolex, a waud of cash, a flat screen or an SUV, so be it. When those kids leave school after a year, those things will be given to them based on their status...Hell, if you want to cure the one and done issue, let the kids recieve gifts. The longer they stay at school, the more they go to class, the more they increase the chances of walking out with a piece of paper from the school, the longer they are there, the longer they get to enjoy being a kid, and the longer networks and schools get to make money of them being in the game. Heck, they might amass so much lute that by the time their eligibility runs out, they might not even want to play in the NBA and get a job that doesn't require them to bounce a ball, or throw a hail mary...Ok, so you have to monitor this action some how, but we need to find a happy medium. Point is, we are punishing kids for being talented and better than other people. Yet another example of how America is rewarding mediocrity.
Now, I just got a call from Heavy Evy, he was having a bout of not being able to sleep, might have something to do with sleeping all day, who is to know? But in any event, he was channel surfing trying to find something to watch. With no Tournament games, Vietnam Biopics, Mail Call on the History Channel, or Dicatators or Serial Killer son the tube, he found wrestling. The Lariat called me up to tell me how rediculous it was, and went on to spew some hatred for Randy Orton...He was livid over how Orton was acting...Keep refereincing Orton's facial expressions, how they referred to him as the 'Viper', and gave me a blow by blow account of everything that had happened in the last 7 or 8 minutes of the show... And how he was not a wrestling fan. Funny, with the conversation I was hearing, I could have swore just the opposite...However, havinf similar issues with TV programming this evening, which is a sad state of affairs considering I have like 200 more channels than EV, I decided to take EV's lead and turn on some 'Rope Opera'...but I went the opposite direction... I watched the other show on spike and well, it was not much different than EV had explained, only with different charecters namely Cactus mick dude mankind Foley love Jack fighting Jeff Jarrett...But it was the crowd which caught my eye..a bout 3-4 rows clearly visible on camera of fans were all decked out in Marshall Thundering Herd paraphenalia. This story can be taken to give 1 of two leasons...There was nothing on TV at all, or, People from West Virginia go to wrestling matches even when they are on vacation. You be the judge...
My Tourney Pick Em' bracket is currently in the 43rd percentile...Not to bad considering that St.Mary's and Northern Iowa Both bent me over and broke it off in me. But, I am certain the rest of the country is feeling the same after effects from what was a wild week...
ANd just so you know, the new season of The Ultimate Fighter, TUF,(how cute) is set to begin, The trainers are Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz...I am rooting for the guy with the Muslim looking chin strap and previous heroine overdose... Seems like a real straight shooter..
And some news that may or may not affect the upcoming baseball season, and fantasy point production, A-Rod is going to meet with Feds in regards to a Canadian physician....Could be interesting..could not be....
More on Tuesday..
