Vols have Cats feeling more blue than usual

Doron Lamb was about 35 seconds away from putting a brown grocery bag on his head. Good thing Food City is such a big UT sponsor.

So, we lose Nerlens Noel and Tennessee drops 50 on us in the first half and beats us by 30.

Seems legit.

Folks, these kids just can't handle it. They are just not there. We did fight today, but we didn't fight to win. We fought out of frustration, we fought because Tennessee occupied a large piece of real estate in our heads all day.

We didn't fight because we wanted to win. To be sure, we were fighting for all the wrong reason.

It was a game of need and want. UT needed a win. UK had to want to win. The Vols beat us to the punch in the want category, and matter of factualy, they knocked us the hell out. Vols 88, Cats 58. We finished with 8 more points total than UT had at the half.

Doron Lamb didn't want to show his face, Poythress is still prone to tantrums and lackadaisical play, Goodwin is still a horrible decision maker, Harrow has lost all will and fire that he showed against Louisville to the point where it is hard to believe he ever had any at all.

Let's not forget how well we did shooting. On second thought, please forget how we did shooting the ball today in Knoxville. You would have thought today was the first day of 2nd grade basketball practice and the kids were out there on 10 foot rims for the first time chucking up shots and praying they hit iron.

This Kentucky team is bad, and if this is who we are going to be minus Noel for the duration of the season, we are in bad trouble.

It stands today, after watching this abomination of a game on our part and one in which I am thankful Verne Lundquist and Bill Rafferty didn't have to call on air, Nerlens Noel was 17-7 on the year, Kentucky is 0-8.

It also stings that our biggest win, even though we put together somewhat good performances against both Duke and The Ville, was over Ole Miss, who have tail-spun since we beat them and it took a record setting performance from Nerlens to secure that victory. We don't have him anymore. We don't have much.

However, let's not berate the kids out there in blue. let's build em' up, and support them. They need it now more than ever.

Trae Golden took a 'golden shower' all over the Cats today (meaning he pissed all over us), too, scoring a game high 24, and dishing out 8 assists. Wiltjer led the Cats, or maybe a better way to put it is that he will stand-out in the lopsided box score as being able to at least resemble somebody who realized a game was going on with his 18 points and 6 rebounds.

Oh, and Willie, Ryan, and Alex all fouled out. At least they had that to show for their efforts, because all they did today was foul, and in a silly manner, too. WCS even got a tech, albeit for nothing at all.

Assistant John Robic, and his magnificent hair, also got rung up and sent home early by referee Doug Show. And this is not me being a homer or biased and posting absurd rhetoric on Cats Illustrated, but the man has a vendetta against Coach Cal and those associated with him. The man has called 7 technicals in the last 3 seasons. 4 of those hand gestures have been against Cal or one of his staff.

It's not a conspiracy if you can produce the magic bullet.

John Hood did become a legend today... for getting his 3 point attempt blocked....

Jarrod Polson recorded a career high 11.

And yes, Skylar McBee looked high as hell.

This is the worst loss Calipari has suffered, not just as Kentucky coach, but in his college coaching career ever. Not one to dwell on the negatives, but that is an interesting factoid.

But I still bleed blue.

The biggest problem I have with the game today was not our lack of effort and direction. Folks, this team is just not that good and while the potential is there, the desire to reach that potential isn't. The biggest problem with today's game that I have,is that there are too many 'one and done' fans cheering for the Cats.

Support the kids, or get a new wardrobe.

Speaking of wardrobe, our new uniforms were kind of narly, in a good way...

And please, enough with the Rivalry nonsense. After today, the all-time series stands at Kentucky 149, Tennessee 67. It's not even an irritating rash folks.

And just remember, this team is still not as bad as the '88-89 squad... yet.
However, you may want to go ahead and make NIT-watching party plans.

No, let's support Big Kenneth in the Dunk Show.
