Fittingly enough after the last post about bandwagon fans, I am going to do just that: Jump on board the Alabama bandwagon, or more appropriately, ride on The Crimson Tide.( I do it all out of SEC loyalty, though.)
Sad thing is, is not even the worst kind of bandwagoning going on for Monday's epic battle for BCS supremacy.
I've grown ill hearing the 'Notre Dame was on NBC every Saturday when I was little' stuff, as if they are trying to get you to buy into them sitting in the living room with their dad's, waiting to hear that fight song and seeing the Irish score another TD, and how how they'd mess with the rabbit-ears to get the picture perfect for the game. You know what else was on Saturdays? Dukes of Hazzard, Cartoons, and World Wide Wrestling, all meant more to me than Notre Dame football. Maybe even more gag-inducing is all this 'team of destiny' garbage. Stir all the echoes you can, because after Monday in Miami, your going to have more ghost to add to that number of fond memories that every fall,Irish fans hold seances to try to conjure up, simply because, to barrow from Harvey Updike a little, it's time to Roll Damn Tide!
It's gonna be bad. It's gonna be ugly. It's going to be high tide for Notre Dame, because that tide is going to be crimson... and is it ever going to roll. There is nothing Tom Hammond, The Gipper, shamrocks, Rudy, the NBC peacock, Knute, Regis Philbin, golden domes, nor Touchdown Jesus can do to help you.
It's God's will.
It's happened. UK Women's team is officially ranked higher than our men's team.
It means absolutely nothing, but it's worth noting I guess... That dancing fool is doing a great job in Lexington.
According to Evan Daniels, creeper of teenager's future plans extraordinaire,he seems to get the vibe (and ruin Kentucky's wet-dream) that Andrew Wiggins will decide to join current Huntington Prep teammate, and fellow Canadian, Xavier Rathan-Mayes(and his penchant to chuck up 70 shots a game from anywhere, well not really, but sometimes it seems that way) at Florida State, the same school that Wiggy-Whack's parents attended, fell in love, gave peace signs, wore flowers in their hair, etc.
I'd be more than surprised to hear he was actually NOT going to FSU, than to hear it is a high probability he is going to Tallahassee. I will say this, if our favorite non-Jamal Magloire (and Wolverine) Canuck does attend FSU, then first person I call is Hacksaw Jim Duggan for some 2x4 justice, tough guy! USA! USA!
Oh, and those students from Walnut Hills will officially be my favorite high school student section ever.
It should be noted though, that he's a kid and nobody really knows what he is thinking or what he will do. On the plus side, if your a member of the BBN, his brother, Nick Wiggins, who plays for Wichita State, wants his little, better, brother, to attend Kentucky. That Nick has a good head on his shoulders.
And if he decides to not attend Kentucky, well, we always have those two nights in Summit to remember him by. Frowny face with tears.
Maybe this is not the best time to mention this, but Minnesota is anything but cold this winter on the court.
And, sorry for this, but they are ranked in the top 10.
Tubby Smith has had a very trying year already. Saul got arrested for DUI, He grew that awesome mustache, and Minnesota has switched up from McDonald's as their key sponsor to Arby's. Lot's a big changes in Orlando's life. However, it would appear as if they have only made Tubbs better for it.
Tubby's Gophers are currently ranked 9th, and enjoying an early bit of success checking in as we head into conference play across the nation, with a 14-1 record. The Golden Gophers' only loss came at the hands of Duke on November 22nd, 89-71. They have racked up some quality wins over Memphis and Michigan State, and they look like they are going to be ready for what has appeared to be the deepest and best Big 10 in some time. Minnesota is led by sophomore guard Andre Hollins, who is averaging 13.6 PPG.
They will clash with conference foe Illinois(14-2) on December 9th on the road. The Illini are ranked 11th.
I am glad to see Tubby enjoying success. I was never in on the 'Scrub the Tubb' or 'Die Tubby, Die' movements.
