Boyd literally spills their blood on the court in route to win

Boyd County is on something of a tear. The Lions have pulled off 5 straight wins since losing Brandon Lowe for the remainder of the season against Rowan County on January 14th.

The Scarlett and White turned what should have been a monumental blow to their season, into a defining stretch of games for who this team really is. The County blitzed Blazer and also avenged an earlier loss to Russell by handing them a 20 point drumming, all during this recent streak without Lowe.

Last night in Summit, the Lions kept roaring. The Musketeers from Lloyd,Kentucky came for a house call, and Austin Hunt and the Lions, with a special appearance from Lowe's #30 jersey, showed them the door.

Boyd came out on fire from the 3 point line, much the same way they did in Anderson Gym, hitting three straight right out of the gate.

Greenup  was no push- over, though.  They played hard and physical, and used their length and height to make it known who BC was playing.  Greenup  amassed 21 offensive rebounds, however their downfall was only being able to convert those into 6 second-chance points.

The games physicality is what led to Lowe's jersey seeing the court again.  In the 3rd quarter, Austin Hunt had to leave the game due to a bloody nose he had gotten in the midst of the physical play by the two teams. Hunt went to the locker room to stop the bleeding and do a little wardrobe change due to the blood on his uniform. During this spell, Greenup  battled back to cut their deficit to 7.

Hunt returned to floor after his costume change and began his second act for the night, which was scoring 10 points in the final quarter, finishing the game with 21, and leading the Lions to a 69-52 win.

Boyd shot 50% on the night, and hit 6 three's in the first half before getting a little colder from downtown in the 2nd half, only hitting 3.

The win improves the Lions to 15-9, also giving them their first winning season since '06-'07.

Greenup's Brandon Johnson finished with a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds.  The Musketeers sit now at 2-15 on the year but are a better team than their record suggests.,
