The 64/60 cornhole season got underway this past Saturday. 64/60 brass gathered at the Headquarters tossed the mass produced slingo bags (Yes The're Light) , drank a couple of ice cold brewski's and worked tirelessly on getting the 64/60 trade market going. Or at least some of us did. Christopher Lee showed up unfashionably late, complained of a hangover from three beers, per Ev's testimony, consumed the night before and fielded air strike after air strike (Text Message) from a unknown assailant whom we assume to be a Stein and gut feeling tells me this wasn't about winning Ben's money. While the gathering was taking place outside Chirs would be posted up inside phone in hand and Sins and Secrets on the TV. Should the festivities make way inside Bopp would slide out the backdoor in order to avoid the deserved mocking. When the gelled one did participate the constant sound of incoming data on the iPhone played like the theme song to Beverly Hills Cop. As the night progressed Bopp became more and more disenchanted from the moment. This disconnect finally lead to a prompt departure which left all who remain speculating on just what the Biebered one was up to. Did he succomb to the temptation of dialing the 10 digits and beg for a hop on the good foot to do the bad thing or did the night truly end as he professed, with every emotionally fragile man's desired destination, the electronics department at Walmart and then home to a big bowl of puppy chow? For the betterment of the 64/60 Christopher stay strong my friend.
It was a sparse crowd at the opening, Gilbert and Ev once again reigned supreme on the boards as it appears only the Barker/Whitley duo can match their talent level. Naturally the first family of the 64/60 was on hand as the night was filled with various threats of child beating from me followed by witty one line comebacks from my children reminding me of how little I am respected. "Get off the car Brady." caught the heart of Ev Lemaster and could have been the highlight of the night. Thanks to all who attended and thanks for just thinking about it for those who didn't. I hope this is the first event of many for the 2012 season and perhaps a little more heads up the next go around as I would like nothing more than to once again humiliate a McClung in competition. Here's to a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend to all may your heart be filled joy, may your belly be filled with pork, and may your urine smell of three days of Budweiser consupmtion come Monday morning.
Game Recaps
Stars 6 vs. BCFP 5. In a rivalry this one-sideded you have got to give them something to hang their hat on. Here is your shining moment for the season Michael I hope you enjoy.
MVP- Arencibia .360/4/7/10/0/1.305
TBA 8 vs. Walls 4. Will the heart strings pull Chrissy's focus away from the 64/60 or will the VClub and Walmart provide enough stimulation to keep his focus here?
MVP- Lucroy .400/2/5/11/2/1.244
41129ers 9 vs. Maniacs 3. Each week seems to end in a threat from McClung putting the 64/60 on notice. I've noticed your middle of the pack, I'll hit the snooze button on the sleeping giant.
MVP- Trout .444/2/7/4/4/1.257
Todd 6 vs. Colonels 5. In this battle of below .500 squads Whitley earns a much needed victory as perhaps the commitment to a name begins to pay off.
MVP- Greinke 2/13/.66/.88/8.56
Rug Pissers 7 vs. MROTA 4. Another week of seeing this name atop the standings.
MVP- Beckett 2/14/.61/1.02/8.59
9irons 9 vs Emanski 3. Big offensive week leads to a landslide victory and a celebration dinner at IHop.
MVP- Pence .393/3/6/5/0/1.219
Pick Up Of The Week
Matt Adams- BCFP. Perhaps the biggest reason Pujols is no longer a Cardinal. With Berkman mauling retirement it appears this could be Adams gig for the entire season. Adams displays all the skills to suggest he could be a solid fantasy option out of the gate. Your looking at a potential middle of the order hitter in midst of one of the better lineups in baseball. Good raw power who should produce solid run production totals.
Head Scratcher Of The Week
Manny Ramirez- Walls Of Jericho. If my recent struggles in the trade market has taught me anything it's the 64/60 as a whole puts little value in Pitching. While I suppose I understand this sentiment a line has to be drawn at some point. Flash back to Manny's brief time with the Rays. As the memories poor into your brain can you recall the RBI producing single. If so you can recall Ramirez's only hit of the 2011 campaign. Now I suppose you could rationalize that the 17AB made in 2012 was a small sample size. But the truth is it's been almost three whole seasons since Ramirez has been a fantasy asset. One could also argue he has never reestablished himself after his first failed drug test in 2009. Now if three years older, another failed drug test and over a year out of baseball is the recipe for a second wind, then sign me up. Otherwise to rid yourself of at worst a leagues top 5 setup man or at best a potential Top 5 closer doesn't seem to be the path to a championship. Even if Robertson is currently on the DL.
Trade Analysis
TBA receive Andrew McCuthchen and Ricky Nolasco from Marhall Maniacs for Carlos Beltran and Chris Johnson. Given Nolasco has already been dropped and the fact that despite his early season success Chris Johnson is irrelevant in a 12 Team Mixed League this was basically a McCutchen for Beltran deal. Coming off a pedestrian 2011, compared to expectations, McCutchen hadn't done anything prior to the deal to suggest 2012 would be different. On the other hand Beltran has had a good run of health over the last year and a half and the fantasy numbers have been better than many had come to expect. If you gaurantee me Beltran stays healthy I prefer him to McCutchen as SB would be the only categorey where McCutchen has the edge. Of course health has been a big IF and given the keeper league status and the potential 4th Round value for McCutchen it's hard not to like the deal from the TBA's side longterm. Maniacs get the better player now and more of the risk, TBA gets the better value.
