Draft Recap Vol. 4: The Worst From 6-15

***A little snag in the editing department I suppose. This has been at the Co-Commissioners desk for about a week but no response. So Here is my take on the fat on the meat of the draft.

Now we give you the worst selections per round in terms of value. These players were either taken to early or will fail to earn any profit based on their draft slot.

Round 6

JBC- Drew Stubbs, MROTA. While Bryce Harper certainly stands out given the keeper league setup combined with Todd's abscence on draft day I'll let this one past. Sure Stubbs has the coveted Power/Speed skill set but his AVG and OPS totals can be detrimital to your team. At this stage in the draft flaws should not be acceptable.

Round 7

JBC- Danny Espinosa, The Militia. Sure Espinosa could give you a 20/15 type season in terms of HR/SB but like Stubbs it's to early to accept a mole unless you have Cindy Crawford looks.

Round 8

JBC- Justin Morneau, Tom Emanski's Deathsquad. In full disclosure I have no real issues with any of the players selected in this round. Given Morneau's health issues and the potential for reoccurence I would have targeted one of the younger high upside players at this point such as Ike Davis.

Round 9

JBC- Vernon Wells, Barboursville Stars. Much like former teamate Alex Rios, Wells's track record of production can really be covered in about 3-4 seasons the rest of the time it has been brief glimpses of the good stuff with the rest filled with average production at best. Many publications point to 2012 as another productive season for Wells but with the multiple options at the disposal of Scoscia Wells won't have the long leash to prove himself like in years past.

Round 10

JBC- David Freese, MROTA. Every year a postseason hero jumps up the draft board 5-10rounds higher than they should be considered. Freese is the 2012 version. Nothing Freese has done in his career suggest he's anything other than a average 3B who should be a 20th round roster filler.

Round 11

JBC-Yoenis Cespedes, Tom Emanski's Deathsquad. If you want Cespedes this is where you have to take him. Problem is you could be disappointed. Cespedes is likely to start the season in the minors. While his skill set does feature solid power with speed like Stubbs and Co. AVG could be a problem. If Cespedes doesn't reach 450 AB it could be difficult to produce 15/20 or 20/20 therefore the 11th Round selection value will not be meet.

Round 12

JBC- JP Arencebia, Barboursville Stars. I have no issues with JP as a 2nd catcher in a two Catcher league. Your gonna get 20 HR however the big AVG risk makes the 12th Round seem about 4-5 rounds early. Considering options such as Yaldier Molina where still on the board Arencebia should have remained in the players available list.

Round 13

JBC- Peter Bourjos, TBA. Another solid round of selections so someone had to be selected. Bourjos seems more like a feel in for Trout than a long term solution. Therefore a slow start out of the gate or a smoking hot stick by Trout at AAA could prompt the new era to begin early. Therefore Bourjos becomes a 4th OF with less than 300 AB for the season making it impossible to return 13th round value.

Round 14

JBC- Emilio Bonifacio, MROTA. My unwillingness to accept Bonifacio as a Juan Pierre clone could cost me a chance to land a Top 5 SB threat in all of baseball. Oh well I'll take my chances. Bonifacio has proven every season outside of 2011 that he is a nice utility player of the bench for a big league club and a brief flash in the pan fantasy option. I'll assume 2011 was a outlier and that Bonifacio will soon find his rightful spot at the top of the Marlins Bench.

Round 15

JBC- Mike Moustakas, Tom Emanski's Deathsquad. Another round where it's difficult to nitpick. Moustakas could easily provide value above the midway point of the draft so this selection has more to do with taking Moustakas likely 3-5 rounds to early perhaps.
