In-N-Out The 64/60 Week 21
In a Head To Head League I cannot think of a better moment during the regular season then when the astericks appears alongside your team name. For three owners Week 21 was the deciding week. Though it has been a forgone conclusion for about a month the BC Dingers, Prestige Worldwide, and the Argumentative 9irons all clinched a playoff spot this week. The only thing left to sort out amongst these teams is playoff positioning and who gets the first round bye. The Dingers and 9irons have dominated the regular season but both have struggled over the last month and a half. With this weeks 6-5 defeat to the Smackers the 9irons fell from the top two spots for the first time since the very early going. Given the Dingers Week 22 opponent the dead in the water, Hendo Colonels, it looks as though the Dingers will be awarded a first Rd Bye. In Week 22 the 9irons are in a Civil War with the Bear Creek FP Factory, who are battling for their playoff lives, while Prestige Worldwide must take their verbal battles with William Ward and the Tude Smackers onto the field in the final week. Though a first Rd bye doesn't mean anything in Week 2 of the playoffs it is nice to know that regardless of your teams performance you are one game away from a shot at the title.
For the rest of the contenders it comes down to the final week. Though it always seems that the most recent events are the best ever, I cannot recall a season in which four teams had a shot at any of the 3 remaining playoff spots. If you believe in miracles add the 41129ers into the conversation. The 41129ers were left for dead in this post last week but a 11-1 win over the Hendo Colonels give the 41129ers a slight chance. The 41129ers do get a favorable matchup facing the cellar dwelling Duckies who struggle every week other than when they play the Factory. In order for the 41129ers to have a chance they are going to have to take care of business Virgil Vanhoose style and win by a minimum of 10-2. The BCFP and Barboursville Stars are the favorites to capture two of the three spots. Both teams have a 125-117-10 record on the year. As I had mentioned the Factory must face the 9irons while the Stars take on the struggling Vonderheides who are battling to stay out of Steve Lombardi territory. To save from the three paragraph playoff scenarios, the magic number for both the Factory and Stars is 6. If both can win in 6 catagories this week then both will be playing meaningful baseball after the first week in September. As the scheduling gods would have it the Ohio River Carp and Hell and Damnation go Head to Head in the game of the Week. Though the winner isn't guaranteed a playoff spot alot of things would have to go against them for that not to be the case. Without a doubt these two teams are the hottest squads in the league. Both have posted 8-2 mark's over their last 10 games and have a combined Head-To-Head record of 156-97. The Carp have excellent pitching to be thankful for while H&D has been a really well balanced ballclub with solid pitching and Hitters who are finally playing up to their potential. Both teams were near the bottom of the standings about two months ago so whomever should make the playoffs from this group will pull of the greatest comeback in terms of position relative to the date in the season in 64/60 history.
Regardless of the outcome I can say with confidence that the 2010 64/60 Baseball season minus Andrew on draft day has been the best and most honest season to date. I hope we can get the same group together minus of course the Rubber Duckies and their 1K AB's lost to the DL. Good luck to the playoff contenders this week as I am sure Ownership will require a "All Hands On Deck" approach this week. Playoffs or Off Season begins Monday, I hope to see everyone in the postseason.
Tude Smackers- Nice run came up just short. Mathamatically has a chance at a playoff spot but given the number of teams in front of them it would take a Miracle On Ice. The Smackers took the straight and narrow path this season minus a stint at Benching P's in the early going. Truth be told I somewhat missed the increased blood pressure and explosion of comments on the blog.

Pickup Of The Week
Fernando Rodney- BC Dingers. The Angels have been a dumpster fire this season but their style of play and lack of power tends to play toward many tight games. Assuming Rodney can hold them down he should be a decent option for saves down the stretch.
Head Scratcher Of The Week
LeMaestro's 41129ers drop Madison Bumgarner. Bumgarner did have a rough outing last week but Bumgarner is a better option than Olsen. In all fairness it's late in the season and the Mad Scientist could have wanted to stream a pitcher for that day.
64/60 at the NFBC
Back atop the standings within are 12-Team league after a monster week. Good pitching and good hitting all around even with Jay Bruce and his four HR's on the bench this past weekend. It's getting to the point were teams are adjusting their roster with catagories in mind rather than best player in order to gain some spots.

You have got to be kidding.
I'm trying to be a little nicer and you just encourage me to start talking more trash.
Injustice.
Next season, I am guaranteeing victory. Mark it 8 dude.
