In-N-Out The 64/60 Week 20
Sorry for the absence my fellow 64/60ians. As I posted last week we here at the 64/60 offices had some technical difficulties and are freelance writers must have been on strike. Anyway we are back and at it again this week so thanks for the patience.
Just over a month ago the Hendo Colonels and 41129ers were playoff teams. At the same time the Factory was ridiculed by fellow owners for there lack of success while Hell and Damnation were firmly in 11th place and according to the Bopp looking at the 2011 season. Now H&D is dishing out the lickings and aren't afraid to hide it. Parts of ownership has took this approach off the field as well. For the Factory the patient leadership of Joshua Coleman should be praised. The Factory have performed well all season in the Power Rankings and while everyone was second guessing my decision making I was confident that the numbers would speak the truth. It wasn't long ago when I guaranteed to Mr. Lemaster that the Factory would be in the playoffs while the 41129ers wouldn't be so fortunate with only two games remaining my prognostication once again belongs among the best in the business. Still no X's alongside of any team thus no playoff spot has been locked up but the Dingers, 9irons and Prestige are locks. That leaves the Stars, BCFP, H&D, Ohio River Carp and after winning three straight contest, the Tude Smackers should be considered as a contender for the final three playoff spots. For the other four teams 2011 will begin in just a little more than 6 mos.
Since the majority of the next few weeks will be dedicated to the teams that are in contention I feel that we should pay are respects to those who won't be playing come mid September. The Rubber Duckies are in a battle to hold onto the 12th spot which they have held nearly all season. The Duckies had enough parts to make some moves and become a contender but if I've said it once I've said it a thousand times a lack of activity will always come back to haunt you at some point. Los Vonderheides have been in a free fall since around mid-season. Los Vonderheides made a good living off some fortunate matchups early in the season. The Vondies certainly didn't lack leadership as Gilbo was one of the more active owners. The Vondies made good moves that just didn't pan out. I mean who would have thought that Ryan Braun would be a average player. I fully expect The Idge to be a solid performer for years to come. The Hendo Colonels are another team that have plummeted since just before the All Star break. The Colonels came in as high as #3 in the standings and number 1 in the Power Rankings not long ago but 8 losses in 10 games have made those days a distant memory. Once again as is the norm every season the Colonels have a stretch of inactivity that cost lost games due to DL stints and to many players on the roster that shouldn't be. Even with this dead period every year I fully intend to see Hobson and his visits to the porch next March. Finally the early season favorite for Owner of the Year Everett Lemaster and the 41129ers, faded down the stretch losing six of eight. If people get what they deserved the Mad Scientist would be one of the three teams who have locked up a playoff spot. In the end it just wasn't in the cards for the 41129ers this season. Perhaps the bright spot for the 41129ers this season is that his legacy will not be marred by controversy like last season. How about my first prediction for 2011. Everett Lemaster and the team to be named later will make the playoffs.

Pickup Of The Week
Daniel Hudson Ohio River Carp. Hudson has been a stud since the move to the NL. No doubt some luck has been involved as he has benefited from a .242 BABIP since coming over from the White Sox but a 36:6 K/BB rate suggest that Hudson could be coming into his own. The Carp are loaded with Closers so that approach requires starters who can rack up some K's to be successful, Hudson certainly fits that mold and Pitching in the NL West certainly helps.
Head Scratcher Of The Week
Hendo Colonels fighting for their playoff lives against one of the teams they are in a battle with and Owner Dave Hobson is no where to be found. Fighting 23 against 25 the Colonels season ended with the 11-1 defeat. Given the decisive score had the Colonels had a full roster they likely would have fell short anyway but at this time in the season it should be all hands on deck.
64/60 at the NFBC. Not a bad week for the Company. Regained second place in the league after a solid pitching week. Still have some room for growth in SB and several pitching stats. If we can gain ground in about 3 of 4 area's the league crown and a top 25 overall performance is possible. Given the distance between us and the Top 10 it's pretty safe to say that the big money will have to wait until next year.
