nfl sleepers and other observations

sleepers in fantasy football are a little different then in fanasy baseball. in baseball a sleeper is traditionally drafted in the 13th rd or later. in football a sleeper could be drafted upwards of the 3rd or 4th, possibly even the 2nd in some cases. following are my favorite and least favorite sleepers going into 2010.

top sleepers

1) Shonn Greene, RB, Rex's Jets
2009: 540 yds, 2 total tds, 0 rec.
2010 predictions: 1204 yds, 9 tds, 31 rec.
-Greene has one of the best offensive lines in football and god knows rex likes to run. i see greene being a top 5 running back you can get in the 2nd or 3rd round. LT does eat into some of the carries but this is the 2010 nfl. no one back runs a offense with the exception of CJ, MJD, steven jackson and frank gore. outside of these 4 splitting carries is the norm. i see a monster year for greene. i like him more then michael turner, ryan mathews and deangelo williams.

2) Wes Welker, WR, Paits
2009: 123 rec, 4 tds, 1 knee surgery
2010 predictions: 125 rec, 7 tds
-Really weird to include a WR that gets a hundred catches a year, every year but the injury concern has him falling to the 7th rd in some cases. remember we are a ppr league. i think welker is easily a top ten reciever in football that is getting drafted like he is a top 25 WR. welker will be cheaper this year. get him while it is economic. buy low. i like him better then sidney rice, pierre jarcon, mike sims-walker and michael crabtree.

3) Joe Flacco, QB, Ravens
2009: 3613 yds, 21 tds, 12 ints
2010 predictions: 4325 yds, 27 tds, 13 ints
-My fantasy QB from last season didnt disappoint, nor light the world on fire. with the addition of anquan boldin and huge steps taken by ray rice the baltimore offense should look more like the saints then the 49ers. i see flacco being a top 7 QB that you can get in the 9th or 10th rd. i like him equally as much as phillip river, tony romo, and matt shaub.

4) Kevin Kolb, QB, Eagles
2009: 741 yds, 4 tds, 3 picks, 2 starts
2010: 3998 yds, 21 tds, 15 picks
-the hier to the eagles had 2 great starts last season. i dont see him doing that every game. the nfl def corrs. out there will see tape and start noticing tendincies. i still like his 2010 tho. andy reid throws the ball like no other and this could inflate some roto numbers. i like him more then carson palmer, bathroom giggalo big ben, and eli manning. having said that i also think he has a better 2010 then my boy donovan.

5) LT, RB, Rex's Jets
2009: 730 yds, 12 total tds, 20 rec.
2010: 990 yds, 12 total tds, 43 rec.
-as previously stated the jets RUN THE FOOTBALL. shonn greene will be the show but LT might be the better sleeper because he is getting drafted in like the 13th rd. this will be LT's BEST offensive line he has EVER ran behind. i know LT is a shadow of his former self but that is ok with me because he is so cheap. he has a nose for the endzone and he will be the pass catching back in the fold. LT has a good 2010 with the team to beat in the AFC east. i like him better then justin forsett, chester taylor, donald brown and sticky williams.

bottom sleepers, guys im not crazy about that other people are

1) Devin Aromashodu, WR, da bears
-not crazy about the draft pos. really. i see aromashodu being the number 1 for martz's offense but he is getting drafted with the likes of houshmandzadeh, dez, and meachem. all of which i like more then aromashodu. if im wrong look for a 08 eddie royal type year from aromashodu.

2) Ryan Mathews, RB, San Di-ago
-this one is simple, rookie RB, bad line, splitting carries with a home run hitter. i doubt mathews reaches 1000 yds.

3) Jahvid Best, RB, Detriot Lions
-ditto on the rookie RB, bad line. he will have a better year then mathews but not by much. i see 780 yds. 5 tds. not what i want with my 5th or 6th rd pick.

other observations...

anderson silva KOs sonnen in the first, 1:28 rd 1. (silva is an assasin)

if it were raining pussy, cleveland fans would get hit in the head with 12 inch weiners.

Phills, Cards, Rockies, Reds are the playoff teams for NL.

Yanks, Twins, Rangers, Rays for the AL.

9irons, dingers, worldwide, 41129ers, factory, and the b ville stars for the 64 60.

Longoria will be on butch's team 6 more times this year, at least.

astros suck and minute maid park is the ugliest thing in the majors. 326 ft homers?? COME ON!
