It's called Rotisierre value. Around 80% or more of the fantasy leagues in the country use this system. Each team is given point totals for their team ranking for each stat. For example if a Team A has more RBI then any other team in the league they would be awarded 12 points. Second place would be given 11 and so on until the last place team is given 1. In the event of a tie the points are totaled up and divided by the number of teams. For example if Team A and Team B both have 100SB which is tied for the 2nd best total in the league then the teams would split the 21 points for 2nd and 3rd and each would be given 10.5. So the Power Numbers are simply the Roto values of each team. So the only way I can explain my number one ranking is that I have a stud team who have put up great numbers and in theory should have a better record than I currently have. Typically over the course of a season the records of a Head-To-Head will be indicative of their Roto Values. Since I have followed this over the last three seasons or so I have noticed that one team underperforms record wise while generally one team overachieves in regards to their actual numbers. I hope this explaination gives you some insight into the BCFP being ranked Number 1 at the break despite the 7TH place in the standings.

Rotisserie numbers have no meaning in H2H. The point of H2H is to beat your opponent on a week to week, game by game basis.

These numbers are simply just to make Joshua feel better about his shit team.

Example-

Going into the final day of a head to head game here are the pitching stats.

Team A Team B

Svs- 3 3
K's- 50 54
QS - 4 5
ERA- 2.35 4.89
WHIP 1.07 1.65
K/9 11.9 7.6

Team A can safely stream pitchers for K's, QS's and Saves without much fear of losing the categories they currently lead.

In H2H you just want to win the week, so it would be silly to not do this.

In Rotisserie you simply wouldnt add a couple extra shitty pitchers off waivers just for a save or 3 strikeouts at the risk of fucking up the rest of your numbers.

Point....Its just a completely different way to play, and makes the Power Rankings absolutely worthless as no one is playing to lead all categories at the end of the year....If we were playing Rotisserie, the Power Rankings would look completely different as we would all be using a different strategy.

I know it makes you feel better, Burt. But its silly and misleading...Its comparable to glorifying a losing NASCAR racer who upon finishing dead last at the Daytona 500 says.."I didn't win the race, but I averaged the highest miles to the gallon, tonight."

Its not the point....So nobody gives a fuck.

Chris,

I respect your opinion regarding the validity of the Power Rankings. I still stand by my opinion that a teams Roto value is a better measure of a teams productivity. In a H2H league you can make a living playing against teams that are having a bad week. You could essentially be the 2nd worst team each week and go through the season undefeated. Your record would be good but in reality the quality of play doesn't match the results. It would be like a 12 year old playing Minor League baseball against a pitching machine and hitting numerous HR's. Yes they are HR's but the kids 12.

While your exaggerated memory and unoriginality overwhelm me...... You have not and cannot defend your Power Rankings.

As stated, they are simply useless and misleading in terms of how well someone is managing their team in a head 2 head league.

So...........keep patting yourself on the back for your continued mediocrity in this league. As your only currently "winning" a game that nobody else is playing.

Chris,

The Power Rankings are meant to be a tool for owners to use in analyzing their teams. I do not use the Rankings for self gratification or to stroke my ego. I am confident that my head to head results will resemble my ranking in the very near future. Just as you know that hair gel won't put an end to a cowlick, I realize a good roto value won't mask a poor H2H record.
