In-N-Out The 64/60 Week 14

Finally we can breath. For three days we can set back and just relax. No live scoring updates and StatTracker launching. No Probable Pitcher filter needed. We have arrived at the All-Star break and quite frankly I can use the rest and relaxation. But before the break Week 13 provided this league with a much needed offensive explosion. 2010 has been refereed to as the Year of the Pitcher and from week to week are game, or at least every team beside the, Factory totals would indicate just that. This week the lowest run Total was 39 in Week 13 Four teams had totals below this. This week every team had double digit HR totals though I haven't done the research on this I'm quite certain this is a 2010 first for the 64/60. Last week 6 teams failed to crack into the teens. RBI only two teams failed to reach 40 in Week 13 6 teams failed to do so. All across the board Week 14 provided improvements offensively in comparison to Week 13. Though the pitching performances for each team took a hit I tend to prefer an offensive matchup rather than a pitchers duel when it comes to fantasy.

At the break the 9irons have managed to fight through injuries and hold onto first place for the majority of the first half. Once again the Dingers find themselves in 2nd place and so Chris's feelings don't get hurt, he to has had to battle some injuries of his own. Prestige Worldwide has slid into the third spot over the last few weeks as the Colonels are going through their hibernation period that happens each season. Mr. Hobson has a different mentality to fantasy then most of us. Hobson actually puts work/family and other distractions ahead of Fantasy baseball/football. From everyone in the 64/60, Dave we hope all is well and please take your time the more you lose the better for us. The Barboursville Stars are looking like a contender this year even without a formidable offense. Can the Stars get the job done and make back to back playoff appearances? Finally can the 41129ers and Butch Lemaster find the recipe to hold onto a playoff spot? I don't know if the 41129ers can hold on or not but what I do know is that Mr. Lemaster will fill email Inboxes, the Waiver Wire will be in constant flux and at least 100 more transactions will take place by years end. If we decide to have a 110% award Mr. Lemaster has his name all over it. For the rest of us we must continue to grind and win games. Avoid the big losses and constantly try to improve your roster and for christ sakes don't trade James Loney and Matt Cain for a Panda if you can accomplish these 3 items then your 2010 isn't over yet.

Game Breakdowns

BCFP vs. Hell and Damnation 8-4. In a battle of the Coleman household the Fantasy Guru finally can claim victory over Mrs. Guru. It was a offensive explosion by both teams but thanks to Babe Ruth(Carlos Quentin) the Factory would have been to much for everyone on the offensive side this week. Though the pitching once again failed the Factory the daily streaming earned me the W in K's which assured me a victory. As for Damnation they can feel good about the improved offensive output and if they can build on this in the second half this team could be very dangerous. On a side note can anyone please explain to me why the lesbians who dress like 18 year old boys date other lesbians who dress 18 year old boys? Perhaps I should consulate an expert.

BC Dingers 7 vs. Tude Smackers 5. As is with every matchup featuring Mr. Ward this was the smacktalk matchup of the week. Mr. Ward focused on Chris's failures as a Little Leauger while Bopp reminded The Bad Guy about his Acid Rain days. On the field once again The Dingers relied on a very strong offense and just enough pitching to get by. This has been the formula nearly all season for the Dingers and it has worked thus far. As for the Smackers the Loss gives them a 2-8 record over the last 10 contest and little room for error in the second half.

Wandy Rodriguez 2/16/2.77/.92/11.08

Ohio River Carp 7 vs. Los Vonderheides 5. Much like H&D the Carp's offense woke up from a season long hibernation in Week 14 posting numbers that would normally be good enough for top honors. To go with the hitting outburst the Carp once again performed well on the rubber posting a low 3 ERA with a WHIP of just over 1. As for Los Vonderheides they are in a tailspin of sorts losing 5 of 6 before the break even though the offense finally produced some solid numbers. Thanks to a hot start however Los Vonderheides are still well within distance of a playoff birth and have some room to work with.

Barboursville Stars 9 vs. LeMaestro's 41129ers 2. The biggest margin game of the week as the Stars further separated themselves from the .500 mark while the 41129ers fell below the .500 mark for the first time since Week 6. And although the 41129ers are still in the drivers seat for a playoff spot they are certainly on their heels with 5 straight contest without a W. The Stars on the other hand have won 4 of 5 and last weeks offense display gives promise for the second half.

Prestige Worldwide 7 vs. Rubber Duckies 4. I believe the Strasburg Mania hasn't reached the Duckies. Just a month ago the Duckies had won three in a row and many in this league considered the Duckies to be a sleeper candidate with the emergence of another stud in Strasburg. Since then the Duckies have lost three straight and are still inactive and are the lone team with no hope going forward. Worldwide in the meantime have gone 7-2-1 over the last 10 and have slid into third place. Ownership has been on cruise control as Football research has begun but Worldwide is the best example that streaming isn't a prerequisite of success in this league.

Felix Hernandez 2/15/1.69/1.25/8.44

Argumentative 9irons 8 vs. Hendo Colonels 3. Buster Posey for MVP was the war chant given by 9iron leadership late in the Week. It was as if Posey himself had a pulse of the events in the 64/60. Posey himself carried the 9irons to victory and easily gave the 9irons their best offensive Week on the season. As luck would have it a second consecutive poor pitching week produced ugly numbers but thanks to the implosion by Colonels pitching the 9irons still posted a 4-1-1 record on the hill. Once the Colonels return from the hiatus they may need to address some of the issues that have lead to a 1-3-1 record down the stretch. The Colonels are certainly still a threat but of the true Power Teams in the league they have certainly been playing the worst.

Pickup of the Week- Wandy Rodriguez BC Dingers. I have praised Wandy all year asking owners why in the hell isn't he owned. I have owned him on multiple occasions some good and some bad. Over his last 4 starts Wandy has looked better than the pitcher most thought he would be coming into the season. Wandy posted solid numbers for the Dingers this week and if he can keep this up the Dingers picked up a very solid 3 option in Week 14 on the Waiver wire. Of course Wandy could get rocked and released next week.

Head Scratcher of the Week- The Pickup of Andy Oliver in the NFBC by 64/60 sports. It was an error free week for teams in the 64/60 as other than Streaming Transactions no one of much value was dropped. In the NFBC yours truly was in search of a two start pitcher for Week 14. My research highlighted a young lefthander for the Tigers, Andy Oliver. A good matchup with the Royals was followed up by a matchup with the Twins. Though I wasn't excited about the matchup with the Twins I tend to like pitchers opposing the Royals. With that in mind and no other sexy option Andy Oliver became property of 64/60 sports. Two starts and a ERA above 12 later I am left wondering what in the hell I was thinking.

Trade Analysis- The 41129ers send Ian Kinsler and Jose Reyes to the Smackers for Longoria. Longoria is the best player of the bunch and is a welcomed addition to the 41129ers who have little pop and a good amount of speed. For the Smackers they pick up two players who play weak position that have been a problem area for the Smackers. Without question the Smackers get much needed speed even if it is at the expense of power. If Kinsler should get hot he has good HR potential. As it stands now this is a classic Win Win for both teams. If Kinsler and Reyes can combine for 15-20 HR in the second half the edge will go to the Smackers.

64/60 Sports at the NFBC. Though we have a guest we are still at the top of the league. We struggled this week both on offense and on the mound and are now sharing the top spot. On a positive note even after the poor week we didn't drop in the overall and we are still 26th of 288.
