In-N-Out The 64/60 Week 17

The 2013 64/60 Football Season will soon be upon us. The Lethal Lottery will be held on Saturday the 17th of August. The Video will be uploaded by some point on the 18th. The 64/60 Owners Roster is set the Owners list includes: Josh Coleman, Rich Coleman, Todd Whitley, Dave Hobson, Nate Rice, James Hardy, Mark Christian, Bill Fenney, Mike McClung, Brandon McClung, Jesse Ward, and Christopher Lee (who returned for what he claims will be his final football season). For full scoring simply check out the sight. I'm willing to change settings outside of bonus points for long FG of course. While it was requested by some parties to simplify the roster requirements I couldn't bring myself to shorten the draft by 5 Rounds. What else are we going to do to fill that 8HR draft allotment time? Currently the roster is composed of 1-QB, 2-RB, 3-WR, 1-TE, 3-Flex RB/WR/TE, 1-Flex QB/RB/WR/TE, K, DEF, and 7-Bench Spots. While I could spend several minutes supporting this format the fact that I prefer should be reason enough to accept it. Once again the draft will be held August 31st and will start at 7PM. For any interested party the 64/60 Offices will be open all day, consider this your invitation to welcome in the 2013 College Football Season as for the first time that I can recall the 64/60 Football draft will be accompanied by real time football on the TV.

Weekly Recap

Mashers 8 vs. BCFP 4. I've been critical of the Mashers for quite sometime. All sticks no pitching the "what if his hitting has a off week?" has been my defense. As if to bitch slap me fantasy karma provides me with that exact scenario only to give his arms the week of their lives. It's a testament to how good the offense of the Mashers is when a slash line of 45/8/54/9/.249/.714 is considered a underperforming week. It mattered little my offense did nothing to take advantage while his pitching had the week of their lives posting a 72/2.49/1.03/8.13/9 stat line and earning the split. Typically fluke weeks don't bother me, this was an exception. Ward will demand respect, he will claim his greatness, and he will want a I was wrong. I will continue to respect his offense, label his offense great, and stick to my statement that the pitching will not hold up come September. Ward wins the regular season series 13-10, I continue to focus solely on my pursuit of the playoffs.

Hats 8 vs. 41129ers 3. In a recent text exchange with Ev, it resonated to me quite clearly that Ev Lemaster has checked out. I don't know if the recent turmoil within the 64/60 has soured Ev. I don't know if it's just the daily grind is starting to get to him. Or perhaps the inconsistent play of the 41129ers has proved too much. Whatever the cause is the end result is Ev's passion and emotional ties to the 2013 64/60 campaign are at it's breaking point. Anyone who knows Ev knows emotion is what fuels him. No emotion = no respect/disrespect/chip on shoulder, end result no reason for Ev to fret over the small stuff. Problem is it's the small stuff that will close that 6 game gap from a playoff spot. In years past Ev could flip the switch with the best of them, with newfound disconnect from the 64/60 that switch is no longer in arms reach.

Topps: SB-Hats 9, AVG-41129ers .290+, OPS-41129ers .825
O'Pee Chee: SV-41129ers 0
MVP: Freeman .375/2/9/8/0/1.038

Takeover 9 vs. 9irons 3. I firmly believe in order to find sustained success one must have goals. The Takeover started the season about as poorly as you can. Six straight losses and a 23-47 record to go along with it. On the flipside the 9irons lived a charmed life going 5-0-1 with a 43-27 mark during that span. While Richards focus will never be confused with a active owner, Holland's was as lively as my Friday Nights have become. Fast forward to today. Richards roster management has went from every other day to bi-weekly to what I can hope is a quarterly approach. Now take Holland. He made a statement to me about two months ago. Cliff Notes version: If your not last it's as good as first. Goal established. While the W's haven't come the management of the Takeover has. 37 of his 50 transaction have occurred between the middle of June and Today. During that time a double digit deficit has been cut to 8 games. With 6 to play and the 9irons hitting the snooze button the goal of 11th place could make the Takeover a champion of sorts.

Topps: Runs-Takeover 53
O'Pee Chee: HR-Takeover 5, RBI-9irons 26, SV-9irons 0, K-9irons 33, K/9-9irons 6.10
MVP: Heyward .346/1/12/7/0/.969

Maniacs 8 vs. PEDophiles 3. For as much grief as I give him, Junior simply doesn't quit. It's rather surprising given his fathers willingness to throw in the towel prematurely. A month ago this team was dead losers of 9 out of 10 and a Tom Petty Hit from 1st to 9th. To his credit he wiped himself off. Made some minor adjustments. And in all likelihood has benefited from some over the top performances to go 3-0 H2H, 22-12 overall, and to be within a game from 6th spot as the calendar flips to August. At the expense of the Maniacs success was the likely end of playoff hopes for Bopp. Over the game of golf a couple of weeks ago Bopp read the writing on the wall. Oddly enough I was the one who dismissed it. For the first time the 64/60 Playoffs will not include a Chris Lee lead team.

O'Pee Chee: NA
MVP: Liriano 2QS 14K .64/.93/9.00

Emanski 6 vs. Walls 5. After 8 consecutive W's the Walls have hit just that here of late dropping 2 straight and losing there hold on the top spot. For Emanski the Win makes it 4 of the last 5 but most importantly the 38-18 mark has the Emanski's sitting pretty good for a playoff spot. Both teams are similar relying on pitching to do most of the work. In fact I find it rather comical that over the years we as a league have devalued pitching. Yet this year of the 6 current playoff teams I would consider half of them pitching dependent teams with poor to average offenses. In case your puzzled on the 3rd team the Factory would be your answer.

Topps: HR-Emanski 14, K/9-Walls 9.90
O'Pee Chee: SB- Emanski 2, AVG-Walls .232, OPS-Walls .649
MVP: Price 2QS 13K 1.10/.43/7.16

Stars 7 vs. HGH+ 4. When you are a contender there is nothing more painful than losing to a glorified dead team. Glorified dead team simply meaning you have a face to go with the Franchise. Thanks again Mike for playing, it's always a pleasure finishing higher than you. For Nate this could simply be a case of an emotional letdown. Over the last 5 contest HGH+ has faced 4 of the 5 other playoff teams. During this stretch he posted a 31-14 mark. After easily handling Bopp the week before it's understandable that a team coming off that gauntlet of quality teams and in the midst of back to back pushovers a letdown would occur. While the pitching of the HGH+ did everything they could it was the offense that simply let Rice and Co. down. I find it fitting in the week of the Biogenesis that every team associated with performance enhancing drugs by name ended up on the losing end.

Topps: SV-HGH 11, K-Stars 99, ERA-HGH 1.48, QS-Stars 9
O'Pee Chee: Runs-HGH 36, SV-Stars 0, QS-HGH 3
MVP: Burnett 2QS 18K 1.13/.94/10.13

Pickup Of The Week

Tom Emanski Deathsquad- Cameron Maybin. While not yet of the DL, Maybin should be the everyday CF in San Diego by early next week. Maybin will provide + speed, with a little bit of pop to go along with it. For a team who has seen Matt Kemp entrenched on the DL and a recent suspension of Nelson Cruz, Maybin will help absurb the loss better than your typical Waiver Wire addition.

Head Scratcher Of The Week

Marshall Maniacs drop Erik Aybar for Brian Wilson. The Maniacs have been a staple in this section of the post throughout the season. This particular transaction could rank amongst his Top 5. First and foremost the puzzling status of this move has little to do with Aybar. Aybar offers a little bit of AVG, maybe a base swipe or 2 during the week but little else. Acceptable of a MI spot on a roster given how pedestrian the MI spot can potentially be. The questionable decision with the transaction has to do with Wilson. Okay so maybe the beard is cool. Perhaps he gets bonus points with some for his quirky behavior. Even if you add both of those plus skills together your still left with a Pitcher who has been out of baseball for over a year. A pitcher who is currently rehabbing in Triple A. A pitcher who in the best case scenario will work his way into a 7th or 8th inning role come September. I'm all for speculative adds, I just don't support speculative adds for supporting bullpen pieces.

Trade Analysis

HGH+ send Grant Balfour and Austin Jackson to BCFP for Jason Kipnis. A swap back of sorts from an earlier season trade. Kipnis returns to the HGH+ as a Top 50 overall player and a man who has been very good to the Factory. While I can't speak for Nate regarding his end of the deal. I'll sure offer what I think he thinks. Nate feels Kipnis is the best player in the deal and the MI or 2B qualifier improves the roster composition of his team. Balfour was dealt from a surplus while Jackson hasn't been as productive as Rice would like. For me the deal provided me with a sure fire closer barring injury of course. The peace of mind knowing I don't have to race to beat Chris to the Waiver Wire anytime a closer goes down with injury of gives up a 5 spot. Finally a player who I have coveted since the early goings of the season in Jackson. While Jackson has struggled of late he is still the leadoff batter on the best offense in baseball. He offers plus AVG with decent SB and a little bit of pop. Essentially what Kipnis has been thus far in 2013. Another text book negotiation as the whole process was done in person and was completed within 5 minutes or so.
