The weekend, according to the Ohio Valley Conference

Here's what went down in OVC gyms this weekend:

#10 Murray State continued their winning ways, and lamenting their claim as the 'new lil' brother' in the Commonwealth,as the Racers raced past SIU-Edwardsville, 82-65 on the road. Murray State is now the only undefeated team left in DI, following Notre Dame's upset of #1 Syracuse. Murray State has also now won a nation's best 9 road games. 4 Racers were in double-digit in the scoring column, led by guard Isaiah Canaan's 21, he was also 4-8 behind the 3 point line. The game was nationally televised on ESPN U.

Morehead State bounced back from it's heart-wrenching, near upset of Murray State, by outlasting The Skyhawks of UT-Martin at home, 62-56. The Eagles were led by forward Drew Kelly, who contributed 14 pts. and 10 rebounds to the Head's cause. Troy Martin led UTM with 15 points. Four other Eagles finished with double-digit scoring totals.

Austin Peay continues on it's course of being better in conference than out, by edging Eastern Illinois on the road 76-64, improving to 5-3 in conference, 8-13 overall. TyShawn Edmondson led the 'Govs with 24 points and was aided by Jerome Clyburn's 18 points and 3 assists. Alfonzo McKinnie led the Panthers of EIU with his double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Tennessee Tech out-shot Southeast Missouri 56% to 48%, to get by the Redhawks 77-62 in Cookeville, Tennessee. Kevin Murphy led the way with 26 points on 10-16 shooting, and 4-4 from three-point territory.

EKU played host to the Lancers of Longwood University on Sunday afternoon, and the Colonels had to make a comeback to not allow the Lancers to take the keys to Richmond. Down 5 at the half, Eastern relied on 17 second-half points from Jaron Jones and a team shooting percentage of 60.7%, to get back on top and take the win. Jones finished with 23. EKU hopes to continue their 2 game home win streak when Tennessee-Martin's Skyhawks fly into town on the 26th for OVC league play.

The teams in the OVC are showing signs of life in league play, but Murray State may not be catch-able. To say it was theirs to lose would be an understatement.

Morehead will be back in action when it takes a break for OVC play, and travels to Norfolk State of the MEAC Tuesday at 7:00.
