Davis get's roughed-up, Jones establishes dominance.

#1Kentucky went to a SEC basketball game to day at the Pete Maravich Center. As far as Anthony Davis is concerned, what he showed up to was more like the old Mid-South Wrestling shows that were held in Baton Rouge.

The 6'11 sultan of swat was banged, tripped, hacked, pushed, blasted in the nose a couple of times, and even horse-collared (by LSU's Malcom White, who was ejected for the incident). Davis had about every blow imaginable given to him in a basketball game other than having Bill Watts give him a pile-driver to a steel chair(or a hay-maker from Yancy Gates), and I am not convinced that didn't enter into the minds of LSU's players.

In the first half, their assault on Davis did work to their advantage. The big man was sidelined for a bit on the bench after getting a little shook-up after falling to the floor hard going after a loose ball. LSU used the opportunity to go on a run, an 8-1 run to be precise.

A lob from the 2012 Kentucky Mr. Basketball, Anthony Hickey, to Storm Warren got the Tigers to within one in the waning moments of the first half at 25-24.

However, from that point on, The Cats hit another gear. They finished the half on a 10-2 scoring advantage and never looked back.

Terrence Jones made it personal for the way the Tigers had treated his teammate Davis. In doing so, it appears that one would not like Terrence Jones when he is angry.

Jones looked exactly like the Terrence Jones that Kentucky coach John Calipari knew he was. This was a Terrence Jones who went on a 13-0 run by himself. This was a Terrence Jones who completely did whatever he wanted to do, whenever he wanted to do. This was a Terrence Jones, who if he is there every time the Cats take the floor, makes them hands down the nations best.

Jones was the 'Bull of the Woods' in Baton Rogue today. Coach Cal didn't shy away from heaping praise on Jones, either after the game: "My point to him is ... if this is who you are, then you should be this every game," and that (in reference to Jones' performance and playing that way every night)"He makes us different."

It was Jones goal to play today with the intensity and aggressiveness he has before his injury in Indiana. Looking at his stats from today, I think it is safe to say he accomplished that goal.

Jones finished with a season-high 27 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 blocks in Kentucky's 74-50 demolition of LSU.

LSU's coach Trent Johnson was disappointed that his team seemingly laid down and died in the second half, and Storm Warren noted that this game was a pretty humbling experience. He even used the term 'devastating' to describe how it felt to be trounced like that .

No matter the beating Davis took, he keep getting up and plugging along. He told Calipari that he didn't really pay much attention to it. He's from Chicago. Davis battled through the pier 6 brawl that broke out in his immediate area to record 16 points, 10 boards, and of course, 3 blocks.

Coach Cal may still say Kentucky needs to lose another one to get really hungry, but after their performance today, it looks as if their appetite is just fine.

He did share this though: "That's as good as we can play. We beat anybody playing like this."

Anthony Hickey didn't have the game against Kentucky he would have liked: 5 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds. Lord knows though, it will probably happen in Rupp.
