Spreadology 2011

As we prepare for the Holidays and the Bowl Season we are in need of a big week to fatten the wallet. What better way to kick off the month than with Conference Championships and the final week of the College Football regular season. My apologies to Army and Navy I'll have your selection next week. Consider this week your 2011 Christmas Club compliments of the 64/60

UCLA vs. Oregon -31.5. Hard to imagine a school in the backyard of Los Angeles giving nearly 5 TD's to the state University of Oregon but there is a reason. One may think the Bruins will play for Neuheisel but if they really wanted to play for Coach wouldn't they have done before giving up 50 to their crosstown rival? Oregon rolls.

Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State -3.5. A month ago this was viewed by many as a potential National Title play in game. The stakes have changed since then but a BCS bid is still at stake. Injuries have certainly made a mark on the Sooners since opening week yet I still feel the Sooners have the better talent making the points tough to pass up.

Georgia vs. LSU -13.5. Outside of Alabama the Tigers haven't been challenged. Thought the Bulldogs have won 10 straight I still believe there is a substantial gap between the top of the SEC and the likes of Arkansas and South Carolina. Georgia to me is closer to the latter grouping than the elite. Is the gap two TD's? I think so.

Virginia Tech vs. Clemson +7. Earlier in the season the Tigers handed the Hokies their lone loss on the season. Here we are two months later and the Tigers are a TD dog. Clemson has struggled of late while the Hokies are coming off a route of instate rival Virginia. Despite the role reversals in play between the two I still like the value of Clemson.

Michigan State vs. Wisconsin -9.5. Wisconsin is flashy. Michigan State is about as bland as they come. Wisconsin lost in a heart breaker on the road during the final seconds two months ago. Like the aforementioned contest the points are to much to pass up. Wisconsin has struggled against good defenses and Sparty has just that with enough offense to provide a scare.

RECAP: Oregon -31.5, Oklahoma +3.5, LSU -13.5, Clemson +7, Michigan State +9.5

Bengals vs. Steelers -6.5. Sure it's a division contest between familiar rivals. Sure the Steelers could be without Troy flying around in the secondary. Sure I'll take the Steelers thinking a double digit victory is 60 minutes away. To many threats on offense for the Bengals to handle combined with the young Bengal offense heading out on the road.

Ravens vs. Browns +6.5. If the Browns offense was even middle of the pack in the NFL this squad would be a playoff contender. As it stands now it would take this unit three weeks to put up 20 against the Ravens. The Ravens 2011 season has been defined by huge letdown games and this contest certainly would fit the script. Look for a rested Raven squad good for 20+ points and a double digit cover.

Lions vs. Saints -9. Anytime two teams are heading in opposite directions I love the team heading to the shitter. After a fast start to the season the Lions appear to be on the playoff bubble and will likely be without the man Johnny Cash warned you about. The Saints looked as impressive as any team outside of the Packers on Monday Night and there stock is at a season high. Naturally look for the Lions to apply pressure with the 7-8 D-Lineman in the rotation while Stafford and Co. will put up enough points to keep it within one score until the final whistle.

Recap: Steelers -6.5, Ravens -6.5, Lions +9

YTD: 23-17
