Albert Pujols will not be finishing his career in St.Louis after all. The California located in Anaheim formerly owned by Roy Rogers and Walt Disney called Los Angeles Angels have made almost certain of that.
Reports coming out of Dallas are stating that Pujols and the Angels are close to signing a monumentally gargantuan, 10 year $250 Million contract.
Indeed, it's going to be a sad time in St.Louis, but the rest of the NL Central may be breathing a sigh of relief, seeing the most prominent weapon in the Cardinals arsenal, leaving their division.
Now, this deal is going to be interesting to look at near the tail end of the 10 years. Pujols is 31 years old, which means in all likely-hood, the last 5-6 years of it are not going to be a bargain for the Halos. Simply put, they knew what it would take to get him there, and they made that deal. The Angles are paying 10 years to get about 4-5 years of Pujols-type production.
Will it turn out to be a good deal? Even with the last few years almost for certain to be a bad investment, the first half of the deal is going to be a great one. Pujols will still be Pujols during that time, and in today's game, you can't put a value on his worth. Well, yes you can... and according to the Angels, it's $250 million.
