In a bit of news that follows with the traditional un-happy endings in pro wrestling, The Ugandan Giant, Kamala has been pinned to the mat by his diabetes.Kamala, real name Jim Harris (Nope, he is not really from Uganda, he's from Mississippi. Hope that didn't wreck your childhood), recently underwent a medical procedure that resulted in having one of his feet amputated due to his condition.
Harris had remained active on the independent wrestling scene, and was still active in the ring as late as this year. This will more than likely end his in-ring exploits.
I say more than likely because wrestling as an amputee is nothing that is new. Zack Gowan and a kid named Mike Hayes both wrestle with just having one leg. Kerry Von Erich also wrestled for years without the bottom portion of one of his legs, after having it amputated after it did not propperly heal after a motorcycle wreck. Von Erich wrestled the last 7 years of his pro career with a prosthetic foot. A lot of people had no idea.
We wish Kamala the best as he recovers.
Kamala in recent years, had taken to recording music. He and his son have also started posting long-winded (supposedly) comedic skits on YouTube.... They are known as Kamala and Son, and his son's name is listed as Koonta.... nice.
