Spreadology 2011

Notre Dame vs. Stanford -7. Stanford has spent the better part of the 2011 season inside the Top 10. Outside of Andrew Luck this group has the talent level of a team ranked in the 20's. Of course Luck makes for a big exception as he is the best player in the country at the games most important position. The Irish are the exact opposite of the Cardinal as their roster has the talent level of a Top 10 team yet the mistakes on the field have resulted in a 8-3 mark on the year and a ranking in the 20's. Come Saturday Luck will look to exploit the secondary of the Irish, who have had their share of bad memories from the 2011 campaign. The Irish will look to match the Cardinal offensive output against a rather pedestrian defense that has put up little resistence the last month. Look for the Irish Defense to match up better than that of Stanfords and look for the Irish to pick up a tough road win come Saturday.

Texans vs. Jaguars +3.5. The Texans have been the most consistent team in the AFC over the first three months of the season. The loss of Schaub has been viewed as a season ending injury for this Texans team yet if you look at Schaub's stat sheet he hasn't exactly been lighting it up. In comes former Heisman Trophy Winner and First Round Draft Pick, Matt Leinart, to take the helm of the offense and attempt to maintain their current playoff spot. Many are quick to point out Leinart's failures yet in his only extended period under center passing for over 2500 yards in only 12 games and 11 starts. With the return of Andre Johnson this week look for Leinart to have a very effective day running the offense while the AFC's #1 rated defense shuts down the Jaguars offense. Resulting in a easy double digit victory for the Texans.

Redskins vs. Seahawks -3.5. Two bad teams going head to head in the Emarald City or as it is known to Seahawks fans, a weekly game playing in the NFC West. The Seahawks certainly come into the contest playing the best of the two teams here of late with a win over the Ravens and a dismantling of the Rams. Regardless of the recent state of the events and regardless of the venue I cannot support this Seahawks team giving anyone points. The Redskins by no means are a good team but unlike the Seahawks they do at least play one facet of the game well. Look for the Redskins defense to play well enough to keep this game in the balance untill the Redskins offense can make some plays.

RECAP: Notre Dame +7, Texans -3.5, Redskins +3.5

Other Recommendations: Virginia +5.5, Wisconsin -14.5, Raiders -4, Chargers -6

YTD: 21-16
