Spreadology 2011

1-1-1 doesn't win you any money but when you have been doing poorly sometimes minimal losses can suffice. Thankfully the Lords of the Lines have given us some easy winners this week to take advantage of and luckily for you I am one of the few who can see them. So when your kicking back mid-week with a bottle of bubbly and a blond named Candy, a simple thank you will do. For you married folk out there use your winnings wisely. Perhaps paying off the Credit Card debts collected over the first few weeks would be a good decision.

Oklahoma State vs. Texas +7. After watching much of the Texas vs. Oklahoma matchup last week it was clear Texas's nice start to the season had more to do with the soft open than an greatly improved level of play. Offensively they seemed to have improved marginally with the improved running game. On defense the Longhorns can stop the marginal teams but as was shown last week good offenses are still a problem. The Sooners Defense is better than the OSU unit but offensively I would have to side with the Cowboys. Texas will put more points on the board than last week but the Cowboys will still out due the Longhorns by 15 or more.

Eagles vs. Redskins +1.5. Every year it seems a highly touted team starts of slow. Every year it seems that week after week I buy into the preseason hype and tell myself they have to be better than what I have seen. This year it looks as though the 1-4 Eagles could be the 2011 team. I will once again follow the painstaking path of backing the underperforming squad. The Eagles have to many weapons on offense not to outscore the limited offensive threat that is the Redskins. Eagles in another rather comfortable contest.

Cowboys vs. Patriots -7. The Patriots defense has improved statistically the last two weeks yet let's not forget this unit was on pace to become the most yardage allowed team in NFL history. The Cowboys are coming off a bye and the return of Miles Austin should occur this week. Defensively the Cowboys should provide pressure from their front four and as is always the case expect you can fully expect additional pressure will be schematically implemented by the Sexy Rexy. Look for DeMarcus Ware to be a force on defense and I fully expect to see the real good side of Tony Romo come Sunday.

Recap: Cowboys +7, Eagles -1.5, Oklahoma State -7

YTD 8-9-1
LW 1-1-1

Other Items for Your consideration: Northwestern +6.5, Falcons -4, Colts +7
