South Carolina coach, Steve Spurrier, agrees with the report. He also hangs out with tranies.
But in all seriousness, I think that they might want to check with all the students who are not on scholarship and see how they live. See how they struggle with student loans and non-funded living expenses. Then, see what they think about Marcus Latimore being able to have steak dinners every night.
I mean, if they feel as if being given a free ride to a top notch school, room and bored included, when lord knows they probably can't get in based on grades alone, is mistreatment, then let them not accept the scholarship, do whatever they want for two years, which would probably include jail time, and then after the mandatory two year period is over, go try out for the NFL and see how that works out for them. If they don't want to take those chances, then they need to quit bitching.
Anything outside of the school footing a bill for the players in form of a paycheck of sorts, then fine. Let them do autograph shows, let them make commercial appearances, and let them have their name put on jerseys and get paid for that. But let's not pay them because they are on TV and video games.
You are not going to find player loyalty with a college football fan. It's all about the school, not the name on the back of the jersey. Alabama, for example is going to make money from attendance and merchandise sales because they are Bama, not because of Julio Jones, Mark Ingram, etc.,
Now, if they want to increase the value of the scholarship to be more adequate with player expenses, then so be it. However, in doing so, I think that the players should be even more scrutinized for conduct in the classroom and outside. The shit that happens in places like Tallahassee, Huntington, and Coral Gables, as well as Knoxville should be automatic revocation of the scholarship.
Call it slavery, call it behind the times, call it a dictatorship, whatever you like, but it is still Scholastic sports.
Nobody forced them to take the scholarship. They know the rules. If they wish to have a potentially comfortable future, and take the scholarship, they are going to have to abide by those rules.
