Alabama vs. Penn State +10. From a talent standpoint this game isn't even close as Bama likely has 15 pros in the starting lineup compared to maybe five for the Lions. Regardless of the talent advantage the Tide is raw at the most important position as the QB tandem of Simms and McCarron both will see time and neither has any experience dealing with the hostile road crowd they will see in Happy Valley on Saturday. Although Alabama's defense could be the best in the country look for the tandem of Bolden and McGloin to make enough plays to make in interesting in the 4th quarter. The inexperience at the QB position for Bama will result in a early season setback on the road. For the second consecutive week a Top 5 team will fall.
Lions vs. Buccaneers -1. This is simply a case of two teams with playoff expectations facing off. One will likely be a fraud while the other should battle for a playoff spot at seasons end. Consider me a Bucs doubter and a Lions believer. Stafford and company should move the ball effectively while Suh and Co. in the front 7 will provide enough pressure to mask the inequities of the Lions secondary. Lions get the road win.
Giants vs. Redskins +3. Sure the Giants are banged up and bruised but as I have stated before as long as someone is wearing the Blue NY Helmet they will play stellar defense and ugly offense that somehow nets positive results. The Redskins head into the season with Rex Grossman under center and that is just too tempting when your only giving three even if it is on the road. Don't get me wrong this won't be easy but the G-Men would'nt have it any other way.
Recap: Penn State +10, Lions +1, Giants -3
