Are you Joking????

Well, we waited for this. Kentucky Football. Or, more applicably, lack there of.
Lexington, fill up your flask, and have a roll of Copenhagen on stand by. It's going to be a long fall.

Ol' Fig Newton. Morgan Newton. We have waited for him to get his shot at running the offense. To be the man. What we got was his miscues. Him looking lost. Oh, and don't forget the ground tackling him. *sigh*
Not all can be burdened on Newton, though. The kid has a cannon, and while he did throw 3 picks,(2 of which were off deflections) He through some very catch-able balls. scratch that. His receivers should have reeled those in. Had they done so, the final score would have looked more deserving of the game the defense played.
Josh Clemons can run. He can run hard and fast. Unfortunately, we are having some O-line issues, and he is no Derek Locke.
But still, we put up a gillion points on Western last season!
Well, yes we did. And even in the blowout, Rainey rained down on us. Got yards at will.
He is legit one of the top running backs in the nation. But I digress. C'mon people, we lost too many skill players from last year, have a new QB who may have some confidence issues judging by last night, and whether you want to realize this or not, Mike Hartline was not as bad as you people, I included, made him out to be.
Thankfully, It's Nuclear Minter this season. The new man in charge of the D looks like he is going to be a Godsend.
The D looked impressive and was the saving grace tonight in Nashville(So, we open up against Western Kentucky, in Nashville, and it's Western's home opener?). Danny Trevathan had 13 tackles. Winston Guy had a INT that was the catalyst to the Clemons TD run. Our D supplied pressure on the QB, recorded some sacks, and overall, shit down every aspect of the Hilltopper offense, including Rainey, who still managed 105 yards, on 28 carries.
So, Tee Martin and Andre Woodson have yet to rub off on Newton yet, but he did show a flash of potential greatness when he scampered off a 58 yard run, and settled into the offense and led a 80 yard drive.
On a bright note, our punter is awesome and Taylor Windham, the man who knocked Timmy of Nazareth into concussed nirvana, is still the Widow-maker. Like I said, our D is good. It is gonna keep us from getting too embarrassed in SEC play. And, those new white uni's with the white helmets debuted tonight, and they look awesome. So it wasn't all bad. Just mostly.
Unfortunately, if tonight is an indication, they are going to be on the field a lot, our offense is the shits.
Jokey Smurf might be on the clock in the Lexington if this is the kind of output we get. We need to be able to be alert that a football game is being played before we can even think of 'rising' up.
But hey, if he needs a ride somewhere, somebody up in Columbus can hook him up.
